We had the good fortune of connecting with April Amarillas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April, how do you think about risk?
I believe that risk taking is an important factor in building up your own business. If your too comfortable you’ll never grow with success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a local barbershop and salon located in happy valley town center. I’m the owner of Fade and Blade Studio. Being a female in a male dominated environment I had to overcome challenges and break boundaries. It’s always been a difficult road having to prove yourself while showing that you have the skills and knowledge to provide the same service as a man who can to another man. I also enjoy making each client feel special, I pride myself on my work ethic, values and pleasure of making people look and feel great. “You must have a passion for your business otherwise you’ll never know what it means to have true success”!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
During covid it’s been challenging for events . I’d say a cardinals game along with a nice trip to Sedona.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and Clientele. They have all been there for me and pushed me to do great things when it comes to business.
