Meet April Denning | Yoga Instructor & Handstand Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with April Denning and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi April, how do you think about risk?
Oh, I like this question! This is something I battle with always. It’s funny, when I’m considering taking a risk, or have taken a risk I am always brought back to my biggest risk – packing my car to the brim and moving across the country! It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself.
With that decision came a few things I still try to practice today:
Letting go of control
Trusting that whats meant to be, will be
Knowing that if I try my best and put myself out there, it will come back to me
Timing is on your side, quit rushing the process
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Sure thing! I teach weekly classes both in person and online (can be taken anywhere, live with me!), aside from that I host my own unique yoga classes by collaborating with local businesses. I’ve taught group yoga classes in breweries, local markets, parks, and animal rescues, to name a few!
I am also super stoked to offer 1:1 lessons for those who are looking to deepen their journey, but are now about the big groups. I think what set me aside from others is the adaptability I bring to your practice. My goal is to meet my students exactly where they are at and we build up from there.
I am really most proud of the fact that I continue to put myself out there. I am always looking to connect, collaborate, and meet others from the community.
I think building up your own business and brand will never be easy, but it’s always worth it. Thinking long term, you’re someone who had the guts to make your passion your career! It’s something you believe in so fully you’re willing place yourself in a leadership position while helping those along the way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I smiled reading this 🙂 I was made for this question!
We’re grabbing coffee at a few places that week such as: Luana’s Coffee and Beer, Copper Star Coffee, and Valentine.
I am the friend who will encourage you to MOVE your body! Yoga classes at The Madison, Sweatshop, Desert Mvmt, and The Foundry.
Hiking somewhere in the Superstition Mountains
Snacks & wine from Monsoon Market
Two Hippies – The Beach House (all I gotta say)
Papago Park for local hangs!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Holy smokes, I don’t even know where to start or how to choose. There are so many people, groups, and organizations that come to mind depending on what phase of my life were talking about!
My friends first and foremost. My friends who came to my FIRST EVER yoga class, and still continue to support me today. Those friends that I’ve met along the way that always ask about Yoga With April, and continue to support me by coming, sharing, or helping me during my events and classes in general!
The many, many yoga studios I have taught at and am currently teaching at. Thank you for trusting me to build a community by uniquely being myself and opening up a space for others to be themselves, too. Metta Yoga, and Desert Mvmt – I see you!
I look up to so many instructors that I am honored to know, and to call my friends. Watching you all grow along side me and build up the community around us will always inspire me. Thank you.
