We had the good fortune of connecting with April Washinowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The biggest reason I started Karma Aesthetics & Wellness was to make the aesthetics industry more accessible — both for clients and for new providers entering the field. Aesthetics can sometimes feel very competitive or intimidating, and I wanted to create a space that felt welcoming, educational, and supportive. My goal was to build an environment where new nurse injectors could grow, learn, and gain real opportunities, while clients could feel comfortable receiving treatments without feeling judged or overwhelmed. At the end of the day, I truly believe aesthetics is for everyone, and Karma was created to reflect that philosophy.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Karma Aesthetics & Wellness was built on the idea that aesthetics should feel approachable, educational, and supportive — both for clients and for providers entering the field. What truly sets us apart is our focus on mentorship and team growth. I’m incredibly proud that we’ve created an environment where new injectors can safely learn, build confidence, and develop long-term careers, while our clients experience personalized care in a welcoming space.
My journey to where I am today definitely wasn’t easy. As a mother of eight, a primary care provider, and a business owner who continues to pursue further education, balancing everything has required a lot of discipline, trust in my team, and a willingness to adapt. I’ve learned that success isn’t about doing everything alone — it’s about building the right team, empowering them, and creating systems that allow everyone to thrive. I’m grateful to work alongside an incredible staff who help make our vision possible every day.

Aesthetics has always been a true passion of mine, and I genuinely love the fast-paced, ever-evolving nature of this industry. What I want people to know most about our brand is that Karma was created to be a place where people feel confident — whether they are walking in as a client or stepping in as a provider beginning their career. That sense of opportunity, growth, and confidence is what drives everything we do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d plan a mix of adventure, relaxation, and some of my favorite local spots. We’d start our mornings with coffee at Black Rock Coffee Bar before heading out for some Arizona outdoor fun — paddle boarding at Saguaro Lake and tubing down the Salt River are must-do experiences, especially when the weather is nice. In the evenings, I love winding down at Pecan Lake Entertainment, where you can relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and spend time with friends and family.

Of course, I’d also have to bring them by Karma Aesthetics and Wellness to show them the space we’ve created and let them enjoy a little self-care while they’re visiting. Arizona has such a great balance of outdoor adventure and welcoming local businesses, and sharing those everyday experiences is what really makes a visit memorable.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shoutout to SwitchBrews Coffee House and Taproom in Queen Creek. As a small business owner, I truly value other local businesses that create welcoming spaces for the community, and SwitchBrews does exactly that. Their team has always been incredibly supportive of fellow entrepreneurs, and it’s a place where people naturally connect, collaborate, and build relationships. Small businesses thrive when we support each other, and they’re a great example of what that looks like in action.
