We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashlee Renae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashlee, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My final year of high school I was so set on going to a university and becoming a physical therapist. As my senior year went on I was working in a salon and watched all the amazing stylist do hair all day long and I just wanted to learn about everything they were doing. I began to realize I really didn’t think I would want to be confined to 4+ more years of schooling. I wanted to learn how to do amazing hair like the stylist I looked up too. I’ve always been super into clothing and reworking things into my style more. I was always changing my hair from one vibrant color to the next so I knew the beauty industry I was going to fallen love with quick.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most proud of my drive to keep going with my two businesses. I started both of them at 19 and i have been able to learn so much. I definitely am very proud of that. Im excited for everything i get to be apart of this year! Down to the events for the clothing brand and just everyday getting to make people feel beautiful with their hair brings me so much joy. I think consistency is one of the biggest things that has helped me. Getting up everyday and putting your mind to those goals of where you envision yourself and your business at. Biggest lesson is to just not give up on those dreams, be consistent, be open. Sometimes things fall apart and honestly usually it opens up a way better opportunity. I would want everyones to know that I love making people feel beautiful and i love teaching people how they can express themselves through their hair and clothing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I personally love the view from Camelback, so first night they are here i would probably take them there. The lights from the valley all spread across has been one of my favorite things to look out at night. We would spend a couple days down here in the valley trying probably a plethora of little taco shops. Then i would definitely want to take them up to sedona. Growing up we always went up there and even now my bestfriend and i find ourselves going up there often.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s definitely many people who have helped me get to where I am today. My sister Haylee really encouraged me to take the salon job my senior year and that job as a receptionist changed the next three years of my life. Larissa Delgadillo was my first hairstylist and the person I assisted at that salon and has taught me majority of what I know. She still to this day mentors me and pushes me to get where I want to be. My family and friends continue to support me everyday in my many, many dreams I have for myself.
