We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Craig and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I think the most important thing I’ve done to make an impact on my daughters life is that hard work pays off. It might sound corny but honesty, if you can dream it, you can have it. Now, with that being said, the life you want isn’t just going to fall in your lap, or show up at your doorstep. It takes hard work, determination, ambition, sacrifice, drive and most of all passion. I left a very secure, and successful career in Florida to move to Arizona hopes of a better life, greater opportunities and to start my own business with no clue how to do it. We moved here June 2019, by October 2020 I was named #3 Top Nail Tech in Arizona and that was with the pandemic. Im always thinking of ways to be better, how to grow, what needs to be tweaked, and what the next move is. I recently have retired from Nails after building a successful business in 2 years, to start my Fine Art Business, Ashley Craig Collections. I currently have a partnership with a well established interior design firm here in scottsdale and busy with privately commissioned projects. She always tells me, I’m never NOT doing something. It takes long days and even longer nights sometimes but in the end if you really want something, you have to be willing to do what’s necessary to get it. That includes saying no to going out, or spending money on “wants”. Im creating the life I want for her and I, the life WE DESERVE. Hopefully by showing her my work ethic it will instill the same in her like it did for me, from my mother.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well, to start, I have studied art my entire life. From Kindergarten to college and beyond. I love that it has no bounds or limitations. That is one thing I’m asked on the regular, what is your style? What kind of paintings do I create? There is no definite answer to that. My art comes from whatever inspires me at that time. Some days I feel dark and moody, others, bright and larger than life. I love everything from street art and graffiti to fine art and portraits but when I want to feel free and unrestricted, I’m drawn to create fluid, textured abstract designs. I hope to never be defined by a specific style but by the vastness of my unique collections. Every creation is one of a kind, I currently don’t offer any prints and not sure if I ever will. I like creating pieces that are specific to that person or time, it gives it its very own, special uniqueness.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love the vibe of downtown Phoenix right now with their art district and unique boutiques. Im a big foodie and LOVE to cook as well, so finding a new food truck or checking out one of the million restaurants in the area is a MUST.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been so blessed and fortunate to have great friends, family, and clientele who have supported me since the day I stepped foot in this desert. Without their constant love, support, feedback, suggestions and networking help, I wouldn’t be where I am today. So thank you! You all know who you are! <3
