We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Varner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julia, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My personal and professional life balance has changed over time in such ways that I’ve learned some key elements of success that allow me to operate at a high level without sacrificing the priorities in my personal life.. initially, I engaged at a high level of production when I first started my career, and was highly successful, however, other areas of my life fell short. My health was poor, my personal relationships were not being nurtured and time with family and friends was lacking in quantity and quality. Upon realization that there were areas that needed attention. I made a decision in mid 2016 to take a step towards the balance many professionals crave. I learned I didn’t have to be all things to all people all the time. My family didn’t have to suffer because of my professional successes. I learned how to say no to that in which was not true choice. I learned to expand on that which brought me joy, delegate or delete the things that did not. I learned self love and self care- I had been giving from an empty cup for so long that my body literally gave up. It was through my diagnosis with cancer that I realized I had to make a choice- to continue to operate out of chaos OR to adopt a new way and show up in a way I had never experienced before

What should our readers know about your business?
I am an entrepreneur and have businesses in real estate, travel and personal development. My mindset sets me apart from others. I have a genuine passion for life, I am authentic and I choose to show up for myself and others in ways that others typically don’t. I show up as the highest and best version of myself and challenge others to do the same. I am unapologetically honest and strait forward and I hold myself to the highest level of integrity. I operate my business in the same fashion and believe in compassion and elevating others through my coaching and direct approach to business matters. I have overcome several obstacles in my recent past and believe that all life’s challenges are gifts that we are given to overcome and elevate from, if we choose. I want the world to know that no matter what, we are able to overcome whatever obstacles come our way to arrive to the next level of greatness

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to show friends and family amazing scenery around Arizona. Hiking in the red rocks and along oak creek is a favorite destination. Boating and paddle boarding at lake pleasant is great and sunsets are amazing. The hospitality at the local restaurants is always a bonus. We would enjoy arrowhead grille and of course some authentic Mexican food from La Canasta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My coach and mentor, Justin Thorstad, has been a strong influence in my life both professionally and personally. I began coaching with Justin in 2015 and through his coaching, I’ve grown exponentially professionally and personally.
