We had the good fortune of connecting with Bernie Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bernie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I am a self taught artist. I try to be original with my work, different from other artist. I have been working with acrylic paints for over 15 years and still continue the challenge of working with the medium. Being part of 2 cooperative galleries and art show around Arizona gives me the opportunity to work directly with my clients.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Starting in the art biz is all about getting your work out there. I had to figure out what avenues were available. Doing shows in local restaurants, galleries, and art shows. You learn over time what works for your art, and go from there. Another important part of my artwork is that I stay consistent with my style and technique.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Prescott, AZ has many interesting sites and places to hang out. First we would start be hitting the trails around Thumb Butte in the Prescott National Forest. The trails offer spectacular views of the city and surrounding forest. Then there is Watson Lake. The boulder filled lake is awesome for kayaking. After a long day in nature, we would hit Park Plaza Liquor Deli or Lazy G brewery for some grub and brews
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I live in a community of many talented artists! I would like to give a shout out to the Jerome Artist Cooperative Gallery and Arts Prescott Gallery. I have had my work on display at both for over 10 years!
