We had the good fortune of connecting with Bonnie McMahon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bonnie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
One Sports Nation started from actively engaged parents that had a vision to deliver a better youth sports experience for their kids and the families in their community. It has always been our goal to create a youth sports experience that resembled our own childhood youth sports experience. Great memories, and personal physical growth in a community that was kid centric. So we developed ONE Sports Nation to give our own kids a better youth sports experience. We want to share that same unique approach to youth sports with your kids in your community. ONE Mission A Dual Focus: To provide physical development for young student athletes and prepare them for their next level of competition while keeping them excited about an active lifestyle and playing sports. ONE Quality Programming Develop programming that Honors the Game by keeping the program rules as close to high school rules as possible with due consideration for the various age divisions that we serve and teaching kids the right way, the first time. We provide coach training to increase the quality of adult leadership in our leagues that promotes the delivery of a positive youth sports experience for each player consistent with the Mission and Vision of ONE SPORTS NATION. We encourage a healthy balance of “want-to-win” but, “don’t-have-to-win” competitive fun atmosphere.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Youth sports has been my passion ever since that very first day my kids stepped foot on the field/court. Saturday is my most favorite day of the week. I couldn’t wait to get up early on Saturday and get the kids ready for their game. My husband, Scott was the coach of every sport they played, I was the team mom and we spent all day on the field/court. We couldn’t get enough of game day, so one day we decided to do it better than our competition! So One Sports Nation was born. Being an entrepreneur comes easy for me as I am very driven and do what ever it takes to get the job done. I enjoy wearing all the different hats in my business. I don’t give up. I think that is the secret sauce, never giving up! It’s never easy, but always satisfying. I would much rather watch kids play sports than watch the pros on tv. Kids are my passion and I want to deliver the best possible youth sports experience as they are only kids once! They may not remember the game score 10 years later but they will always remember how they felt playing youth sports.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Scott who is the grand visionary behind the One Sports Nation brand. My daughter, Megan and son, Connor who are always by our side willing to do what ever is needed at One Sports Nation to meet deadlines, make One Sports Nation better and being our biggest cheerleaders in the business. AND, our One Sports Nation franchises for delivering our mission each and every game day!
