We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Odom Skye Sackrider and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon Odom, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Unwavering dedication to bring the highest quality experience we can to our audience regardless of the short-term costs. Pursuing this path has been difficult but the brand equity it’s produced has been worth it.

What should our readers know about your business?
We’ve been dancing for over 20 years combined but have been business partners producing the biggest and best Latin dance events in Phoenix since 2016. We invested heavily in improving the quality of the scene from the venues we chose, to the music we played and the artists we hired for since the start. We built this business truly out of a love for the music and social dance scene, not because we wanted massive profits or “clout”. Along the way we learned the hard way there are some that would go out of their way to undermine us for money, their own status or even simply out of jealousy. We were not cautious enough about giving people access to the audience we built because we assumed they had the same intentions that we did. After realizing that isn’t always the case we’ve become wiser in who we do business with and what relationships we cultivate.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For sure we’d take our friend to our biggest weekly dance night, Bachata Addiction at Dave & Buster’s Tempe Marketplace every Thursday. The venue has an open air 2nd floor patio and the ambiance is great for dancing or just hanging out. We like to take guests to AZ88 near Old Town Scottsdale for drinks because it has a great vibe as well and the drinks are amazing. We have a new dance spot on Tuesdays at The Ainsworth in downtown Phoenix that’s really cool to hang out at as well. Great food, drinks and atmosphere and it’s right across from the arena where different shows or games are always going on.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To every dancer that sees what we’re really all about and continue to support our events no matter how hard others try to tear us down.
