We had the good fortune of connecting with Bree Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bree, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risks are scary things that can at times cause some serious anxiety; but at the same time I truly believe those risks could potentially unveil your full potential and major success. I think without taking risks, you’ll always stay stagnant whether it be in life or business. Risks are really what has allowed me to build my business. If I never took the risk to quit my full time job, never took the risk of moving to Phoenix – I would never be where I am today.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Bronzed Bungalow started in 2019 by bringing over 9 years of industry experience + the effortless cali cool vibes to Arizona. Our mission is what I know sets us apart from others – not only do we provide a personalized high quality, natural and holistic spray tanning experience for our clients but we aim to create a brand that inspires community by supporting and collaborating with other small businesses. We pride ourselves on our California roots and embrace the Phoenician culture by offering the best all natural, airbrush tan safe products created by locals, for locals. When you purchase products from us, you are not only supporting our dreams but the dreams of so many other local women owned businesses. I feel so blessed to have grown as much as I have in such a short period of time. I am thankful my brand was able to survive being closed for two months due to the pandemic (even within our first year of business). It hasn’t been easy and I don’t think it ever will be. Owning a small business will always present new challenges but it’s all about how you choose to face them. I choose to face each challenge with grace and a determination to get through anything. The one thing i’m most excited about right now is our BRAND NEW studio location; we are moving to Old Town Scottsdale and can’t wait to continue to grow and reach a whole new community!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
OH I LOVE THIS QUESTION! I actually think about this frequently because I have so many family and friends from California. I currently reside in Arcadia, which call my bias – I think is the greatest part of the valley! So, a majority of the activities would probably be right here; but let’s break it down. During the week; I would keep it pretty casual. Depending on the time of year, I would definitely take them for a hike up Camelback in the morning. I’m not much of an outdoorsy type, but this is something everyone needs to experience. We would walk down the street to one of my favorite spots, La Grande Orange for some breakfast (probably way more than once during the week)! I’d also take them to Teaspressa to grab a morning tea or to Gypsy Cup in Old Town Scottsdale, their Chai Tea Latte is DELIGHTFUL! I’d probably follow breakfast up with some local shopping; Truly Blessed Jewels, Alexandra Blue, The Lifestyled Co, and Vida Moulin (just you name a few). Lunch would be at Flower Child or OHSO. After lunch I would want to treat my best friend to some beauty services throughout the week – maybe at Sage Organic Skincare or Stripped Wax + Beauty. Dinner would be from Buck & Rider (LITERALLY MY FAVORITE PLACE), Postino, or The Vig! When it comes to the weekend I’d show her all around town. Friday night would be Downtown Phoenix – a little Valley Bar, Melinda’s Alley, Copper Blues action. Saturday would be an Old Town Scottsdale kind of day; bar hoping around the entertainment district and grabbing some food from Diego Pops. Sunday would be brunch at Bevvy in Uptown Phoenix + The Yard (cause who doesn’t love capping off a great weekend with a drink and some games)!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my Mom + Dad. I honestly owe everything to them. From day one, they have been my biggest cheerleaders in everything i’ve ever wanted to do. When it comes to my business, this is no exception – whether it’s just an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on they are always there. I bounce ideas off of them daily and look to them for advice frequently. I work hard to make them proud.
