We had the good fortune of connecting with Brenda Daly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brenda, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is to direct films or TV shows with my voice. I lost my job of 22 years to Covid and decided then that it was time to pursue my passions.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think I am set apart because of my drive. I love creating things and am willing to learn all I can about it. I was in the food and Beverage industry for most of my life and I loved it. I made so many close friends. I made a fantastic living and supported my family with good benefits. I would do creative things with my youngest who fell in love with performing so we had a great time putting shows together or getting her ready for auditions. It was a fun hobby for me and a career builder for her. But when the kids all moved away and were succeeding on their own I lost my job of 22 years as a bartender so things had to shift and I decided then that I would focus on being a content creator and actor. I took classes and went to meet and greets. Was invited to work on film and television sets. I love meeting people and learning from them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably map out all the speakeasies in Las Vegas and take them to the MOB Museum. Or a favorite local bar we like to go to. There’s a lot to do here but I do like the local scene.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s my parents, I know it sounds cheesy but my mother was always working on other people’s theatrical projects as a PA and lead actress or an acting Coach when she was living in L.A. She had a lot of hardships but she always worked toward the creative. When she was living with me and my family she continued to reach for all things creative. She would take my youngest to acting classes and was invited to work with all the children. And when I started making films or teaching singing she would always help me raise money and be a big part of the show. My parents divorced when I was young but when they were married my mother introduced my father to acting. He would always be bigger than life. He played the villain in every melodrama that came his way. He was such a character actor. His biggest win was being cast in Long Beach Civic Light Opera as the butcher in Fiddler on the Roof. but the lead actor had him fired because my father would steal the audience’s focus and he did not like being upstaged. So I was very lucky to have that growing up.
