We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlo Oddo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carlo, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks in my life has been a fundamental factor in my journey. One significant instance was when I embarked on starting my first business. Despite overwhelming skepticism from those around me who believed it wouldn’t succeed, I chose to forge ahead. It was my mother’s unwavering belief in me that provided the initial spark of confidence.
Through this experience, I’ve come to understand that calculated risks often lead to substantial rewards. The process was far from smooth; there were hurdles, setbacks, and moments of doubt. Yet, these challenges helped me learn and grow in ways I could never have imagined. This venture not only proved the naysayers wrong but also demonstrated the power of stepping out of one’s comfort zone.
In my view, progress and advancement are closely tied to the willingness to take risks. If we remain within our comfort zones, we limit our potential for growth and innovation. Risks force us to confront uncertainties, adapt to change, and develop new skills. Each risk I’ve taken has opened doors to new opportunities and expanded my horizons, both personally and professionally.
Ultimately, the lesson I’ve learned is that success often demands pushing boundaries and embracing uncertainty. While not every risk will lead to immediate success, the lessons learned from each experience contribute to a broader understanding of possibilities and potential. So, I firmly believe that taking calculated risks is a pivotal element in realizing meaningful achievements and personal growth.
