We had the good fortune of connecting with Jory Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jory, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I always saw my grandmother’s paintings growing up, and I knew from a very young age that I wanted to pursue an artistic career. My grandmother still paints till this day and seeing her dedication is so inspiring.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have a wide range of styles and can work with several different mediums. When I’m not tattooing, I enjoy oil painting, crafting, and decorating. My work tends to lean more on the macabre and spooky side of the spectrum! Of course, the road to getting what you want is never an easy ride. With a lot of dedication, and working multiple jobs for several years, I can happily say I am working my dream job as a tattoo artist full time!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Personally, I tend to be more of a homebody. When I do go out, I enjoy exploring the art districts of Mesa, small mom and pop shops, and thrift shopping is always a must!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I will always be grateful for the support my family has continued to give me throughout the years, especially with the understanding that pursuing an artistic career can be full of unknowns. In addition, I’m very appreciative for my mentors that gave me the opportunity to learn the art of tattooing, and the many great artists that I’ve had the pleasure of working with for the past several years.
