We had the good fortune of connecting with Chantelle Fulce and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chantelle, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve been in the creative field for over three years now and it all happened by accident. I remember the first time I began doing anything creative, it was like a new dream awakened within me. It all started in September of 2018. Being a mom of three, which included twins that were almost two years old, I was so overwhelmed and needed an outlet to release my stress. I stumbled across some social media posts one day that were of art and noticed how relaxing it was to watch the paint being poured onto a canvas. So I decided to give it a try and have been very successful in creating and selling art. Fast forward to today, I have designed my own website for my artwork, mentored many other artists with their businesses, and found that I have a natural talent in designing things digitally and helping others within their businesses. I began doing free projects for close friends and family, to build a portfolio, and Open Concept Creations (my graphic design business) was born. I found in my creative journey that rather it be physical or digital, art is needed. It shapes, cultivates and innovates our lives and our lively-hood. I am pursuing a creative career to help others create engagement that positively impacts the world. From start up businesses, enterprises and inventors, I have helped them all. I know this is just the beginning.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a creative strategist. I am an artist. I successfully own and operate Chantelle Fulce Art and Open Concept Creations Graphic Designs. The thing that sets me apart is I can create a brand, with not only designing logos and developing a brand identity, but I also have the “artist eye” to see the artistic and creative viewpoint of any business I am working with. As a creative strategist and graphic designer, I not only can assist in developing a marketing plan but I can also assist my clients in creating content for their business campaigns, develop marketing strategies, create imagery to reflect a company, provide art direction for promotions and flyers and mastermind creative solutions for clients to continually build and grow their company. I am most proud about being artistically capable of seeing the “art” side of business. Business is definitely important, but so are the visual aspects of any business. I have studied many online courses, mentored internationally (virtually), and completed my Bachelors degree in Entrepreneurial Studies and Business. It was not always an easy road, but most certainly there were a lot of lessons and discipline that took place. I faced challenges that included me being lazy and tired sometimes (let’s be honest LOL!) and also just plain out failing classes and had to get the resources, training and tutoring I needed to pass and succeed. I never gave up, and if there are any words I can give to someone on the path to growing and starting a business or school, don’t give up! The finish line is around the corner and you will sprint to your next destination. Take the lessons and apply it to the next level so you can continue to learn and excel in the next chapter of your life. My business and story is a creative journey. My focus is to assist others bring their ideas into visual presentation.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One thing I love to do is visit artsy restaurants and anything that has to do with art, theatre, symphony’s or anything creative. I would take my friends to my favorite art museums and galleries, the most expensive shopping centers in my town and the best places to eat. I believe experiencing the lifestyle you want also helps show who you are and open up to new opportunities and possibilities. I believe you always need an “artist” friend (LOL) like they say a family should have a mechanic, a doctor and a lawyer… well add artists to the mix because art is life.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ah! There are so many people to thank. I want to start off by thanking God for such talents I have been blessed with. I also want to thank my husband, Ronell, for always being the backbone for our family, encouraging me to keep going, and my children for being my mini cheerleaders. Additionally, my friends and family, my clients and art collectors who are always pushing me and reminding me to keep going and giving me inspiration and words of encouragement, direction and support. Without any of them, I wouldn’t be anything I am today.
