We had the good fortune of connecting with Chareonski Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chareonski, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I have been a risk to taker for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been the type of person that pushes the envelope. Taking risks can be extremely scary but I’m a firm believer in the statement “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. I’ve taken risks in my life as well as my career that didn’t work out as well as I had hoped, but that’s the risk you take, no pun intended lol. But on the flip side, I have taken risks that have been the best decision of my life. Traces of Flavor being the biggest one. I literally had an idea and decided to take a chance on myself. I used my own money and spent countless hours developing a product, in an industry that I had very little knowledge about. Not to mention we were in the middle of a pandemic. I was so afraid that nobody would buy it, or even be interested in it. I had no idea that I’d be here less than a year later having shipped to over 26 states. Traces of Flavor is well on its way to becoming a national brand all because I wasn’t afraid to take a risk.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Wow so trying to put all that I do into one category is extremely hard, while I am the owner of Traces of Flavor I am what you could call a solopreneur. This means my business is owned and operated by me only. I am the marketing director, photographer, social media strategist, and everything in between. I am also a mother of 3. This can be extremely challenging at times, but I am so proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time. Sometimes I feel like I should be doing more, but I always remind myself that I am only one person, and that’ it’s ok to celebrate small victories while working towards bigger ones. I got to where I am today simply by Believing in myself and understanding that I have what it takes to make my dreams a reality. I have big plans for my life, my career, and my business, and I will not give up until I see all of those goals into fruition. Traces of Flavor is unique because our blends are organic, 100% vegan and contain no additives or flavor enhancers. We also offer all of our flavors with no sodium, we currently have 5. Our goal is to cater to all demographics and offer a product that meets all dietary needs. We believe that healthy doesn’t have to mean less tasty. Our blends are convenient and can be used on everything. We make cooking easy!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have been in a Phoenix for a little under a year and a half and unfortunately for the last year we’ve been in a pandemic so I haven’t go to explore Phoenix as much as I would have liked to and plan to in the future. However, I have got to experience some really cool things so here goes. One of the most unique places I’ve visited in Phoenix is the Mystery Castle nestled at the foot of South Mountain. It is probably one of the most unique things I’ve ever seen in my life actually. Tours are $10 I believe, and well worth it. I don’t want to give away the history and ruin the tour but it’s definitely a must see. I would also recommend checking out a comedy show at Stand Up Live located in downtown Phoenix off of Jefferson street. After that I recommend getting some seafood from Juicy Crawfish located on Mill Ave. in Tempe, by far one of my favorite places to eat. It’s small but cozy and the food is absolutely delicious. After dinner you can take a walk down Mill and do some shopping, get some ice cream or even go down to the Tempe lake and rent a scooter, bikes or even paddle boats. If you have children I would highly recommend Castles and Coasters located in north Phoenix. Even if you don’t have children it’s plenty fun for adults too. My favorite attraction is the zip line. If you’re looking for a nice way to relax and enjoy nature I suggest taking a hike on one of our many trails, my favorite is South Mountain. If you’re looking for some night life entertainment I highly recommend old town Scottsdale. The Phoenix area is beautiful and has so much to offer, I can’t wait to do some more exploring in the year to come.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my mother for being my biggest supporter. She has always been there for me cheering me on and encouraging me to follow my dreams. I would also like to thank my family for the continued support throughout the years, and for always supporting my different ventures.
