We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Caprino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe taking risks can be scary for most people. It’s the uncertainty of consequences that may be uncomfortable. Taking risks to achieve one’s goals doesn’t mean succeeding every time. Failure is always a possibility. However the optimistic side of failure is that it aids in personal growth. Failure enhances your resilience to recover quickly from difficult situations. Without risks or failure it would be harder to appreciate success. Failure is a wonderful teacher. I recently have taken major risks in my life in accordance with my career. After my mother passed away in March 2020, I decided to make my dreams a reality. I packed everything up and moved across the country with my husband, two kids, and two dogs. That decision forced me to resign from my comfortable staff nursing position I had invested in for over a decade of my life. These decisions were not easy and I received tons of push back from family and friends. Unfortunately, I have learned not everybody by your side is on your side. My dreams were bigger than my fears. I was inspired to be persistent no matter the cost. Determination constantly reinforced me to have tunnel vision. My mother’s voice resounded inside my head stating “Never give up, Christina you have the potential for greatness”. Once we moved and settled into our new home it was time to start our job searches. I asked myself “what would I do if I weren’t afraid”? The answer came with ease naturally almost supernaturally. Starting my own business was something I had wanted to do for the past 15 years.
My dream was to own a Medpsa where I had the capability to create beauty. In addition to my extensive nursing education, I also have a background in art. I have taken many classes in fashion and graphic design. Aesthetics gives me an outlet where I can incorporate my artistic eye together with my nursing experiences. Being an artist is a gift; education can only take you so far. Don’t get me wrong; building a business from the ground up takes a lot of work and sacrifice. Success is not a comfortable process. I am constantly keeping up with trends and taking continuing education courses. On the other hand, aesthetics and being a business owner feels destined. Your career is what you’re paid to do; your calling is what you’re made for. I believe that changing my career and taking these risks have always been the plan for my life. As I look back on all my endeavors and situations I have been through, some worked out and others have not, but in the end it all seems to have unified together. Today it just finally makes sense. God’s plan for my life was greater than any plan I may have thought of. “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. Jeremiah 29:11

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
This past year has been a challenging one to say the least, despite the challenges of the pandemic, I also lost my beloved mother, bought a house, moved to a different state, passed a national board exam, and started a new business all in one year. I do not have much support from others and I mostly manage on my own, which I am proud of. The most important thing in my life that keeps me going is my faith. I promised myself to never give up and to place my hope in God. My strength comes from the LORD. I pray hard and work hard every single day. I hustle to leave my kids a legacy. True success lives in our legacies. When I am not at the clinic seeing clients, I am working on the back end of the business, or studying something related to health and wellness. Yet, I still manage to set time aside for my kids. Every evening we have our night time routine where we eat dinner together, do home work and read books before bed. I cherish that time which is why I have declined a few job offers to work for other medspas. My work life balance is a priority to me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My dad wants to visit actually soon and I was planning on taking him to Christmas at the Princess. It is a festive holiday event we went to last year and the kids loved it. I would love to take him to Toro Latin Restaurant and Rum bar, we went there for my birthday and I was delicious. I would like to also visit the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, my husband just got a job there and it looks amazing. My dad is a big golfer so I am sure he will want to go to Whisper Rock Golf Club, I am more of a Top Golf type of gal, I am not that good yet. Finally I would love to visit Sedona as a family. The last time we visited was with mom. I have beautiful memories from that last visit and would love to make new one with my kids this time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank The Anthem Area Chambers of Commerce for supporting me. They really are an amazing group of people willing to help small businesses thrive. Success is not only the ability to achieve but also the ability to serve others through sharing. I believe God blesses those people who are willing to bless others. Networking and building relationships has been the foundation of my business. I truly appreciate all my clients and grateful for all the new friendships I have made so far. I am excited what the future brings in for the new year.
