We had the good fortune of connecting with Cindy Eversmeyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cindy, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work life balance had changed drastically over the years… When it comes to my 9-5, I used to be all work. My job used to consume me. Then I became a mom, and there is no surprise that priorities changed. My balance is now an ebb and flow that fully revolves around my family. Because I work a full time job and have three young children, my time is very important. My number one priority is to be present with my family, I will never get this time back. Sometimes my priority when they go down in the evening is my own sleep, and sometimes it’s my Adventure As Mama goals. I feel pretty good now that I’ve accepted it doesn’t have to be the same every day, it’s okay if my mindset shifts. What I try to keep in the back of my mind is that my children are watching me, and I want them to see that family is always more important than work.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Adventures as Mama originally started as a hiking Instagram account. I was a few months postpartum with our third, and we were training for rim-to-rim. Well my posts shifted a bit here and there, and as I tried to figure out a niche I learned an important lesson. I don’t fit into one box very well. As I have decided to fully embrace myself, and all that it entails, I have leaned into sharing what makes me happy. Traveling with my family, camping, hiking, parties, coffee, self improvement, mom tips, humor… All things adventure, and all things motherhood. I’m in the process of launching a website, and am so happy I never gave up when it got hard.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Where to begin… Let’s start with a nice hike, probably in Scottsdale. Now I know there are SO many good restaurants, but I’d probably take them to Zipps for a fun atmosphere and whatever games are on. If the kids can hang, we’d head to the train park. Our kids LOVE the train park. If we are making a real big day of it, we would finish with dinner out on Lake Pleasant.
Now if we are talking multiple days, we are heading up north. Watson Lake in Prescott, Verde Canyon Railroad or Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood, Flagstaff, or North Rim of the Grand Canyon. So many favorite places, it’s hard to decide.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shout-out is to my husband. He not only listens to all my crazy ideas, but supports me in going after them. He is a big reason I can be myself, believe in myself, and set these examples for our kids.
