Meet Erica Richmond | President, Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming – Gainey Village

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Richmond and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erica, how does your business help the community?
At Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming – Gainey Village, our impact goes beyond grooming and treats—we truly believe in creating a positive difference for both pets and people in our community. As a neighborhood-rooted business, we are passionate about supporting animal welfare through partnerships with local rescue organizations like Arizona Poodle Rescue and the Arizona Humane Society, helping raise awareness around adoption, pet wellness, and second chances for animals in need.
We also strive to create a welcoming space where pet parents feel connected, supported, and celebrated. Whether it’s through community events, adoption initiatives, charitable partnerships, or simply providing exceptional one-on-one “grooming with love,” our goal is to make every pet feel safe, cared for, and loved.
Beyond pets, we are proud to contribute to the local Scottsdale community by building meaningful partnerships with neighboring businesses, supporting local events, and creating a luxury yet welcoming environment that brings people together. For us, social impact is about serving with heart—improving the lives of pets, supporting families, and giving back to the community that supports us every day.

What should our readers know about your business?
Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming – Gainey Village was built on a simple belief: pets deserve exceptional care, and pet parents deserve a place they can truly trust. We are more than a grooming salon or pet bakery—we are a neighborhood-rooted luxury pet spa and boutique focused on creating a personalized, loving experience for every dog that walks through our doors.
What sets us apart is our commitment to “Grooming with Love.” For us, that means quality over quantity. We believe every dog deserves patience, individualized attention, and a calm, safe environment. We pride ourselves on one-on-one grooming, building trust with both pets and their families, and creating an experience where dogs are genuinely excited to come back. Our goal has always been to make Woof Gang Gainey Village feel like “your dog’s happy place.”
What I’m most proud of is that we’ve built a business rooted in both luxury and heart. From premium grooming services and all-natural treats to community events, rescue partnerships, and local collaborations, we wanted to create something that felt elevated while still deeply personal and community-driven. Seeing pet parents trust us with their beloved dogs—and watching those dogs become part of our Woof Gang family—has been incredibly rewarding.
Business-wise, this journey has been exciting, but it definitely has not been easy. Like many entrepreneurs, we’ve faced challenges that tested our patience, resilience, and faith. Building a business requires long hours, tough decisions, learning curves, and the ability to adapt quickly. There were moments where we had to refine operations, navigate growth, make difficult staffing decisions, and stay focused even when things felt uncertain. What helped us overcome those challenges was staying grounded in our vision, trusting the process, and remembering why we started in the first place.
One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that success is rarely overnight—it’s built through consistency, relationships, and showing up even on the hard days. We’ve also learned that people remember how you make them feel. Whether it’s a first-time puppy, a senior dog needing extra care, or a customer walking through our doors for the first time, kindness and genuine service matter.
At the heart of this business is family, faith, community, and a true love for animals. My husband Dwight and I built this together with a shared vision of creating something meaningful—not just a business, but a place that brings joy, trust, and connection to pet families in Scottsdale.
What I want the world to know about our brand is that Woof Gang Gainey Village is built with intention, passion, and heart. We are here to provide exceptional care, serve our community, and create an experience where every pet feels loved, every customer feels valued, and every visit feels special. That is our story—and we’re just getting started.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the Phoenix/Scottsdale area for a week, I’d want them to experience the perfect mix of faith, family, luxury, great food, outdoor beauty, local charm, and a little bit of adventure. Arizona truly has something special. Here’s what our week would probably look like:
Day 1: Welcome to Scottsdale
We’d start by exploring Old Town Scottsdale—walking through local boutiques, art galleries, and enjoying the vibrant energy of the area. For dinner, I’d head somewhere with a great Scottsdale vibe like Maple & Ash or The Mission, then maybe rooftop drinks while taking in one of Arizona’s beautiful sunsets.
Day 2: Desert Beauty + Relaxation
An early morning hike at Camelback Mountain or Papago Park, followed by brunch at The Henry or Farm & Craft. Then definitely a spa or resort day because Scottsdale does luxury wellness so well.
Day 3: Sports + Entertainment
As a huge Phoenix sports fan, we’d absolutely catch a Phoenix Suns game if it was in season. The energy downtown is incredible. If there wasn’t a game, we’d explore downtown Phoenix and Roosevelt Row.
Day 4: Local Flavor + Community
This would be a slower local day—coffee, shopping, and supporting neighborhood businesses. I’d absolutely bring them by Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming – Gainey Village so they could see our little corner of the community, meet adorable pups, and experience what we’ve built. Then we’d enjoy lunch and stroll around The Shops at Gainey Village.
Day 5: Arizona Adventure Day
A day trip to Sedona for breathtaking red rocks and scenic beauty, or Cave Creek for western charm, local shops, and live music. Arizona’s landscapes are truly unmatched.
Day 6: Slow Saturday + Brunch + Scottsdale Living
This would be a slower day to just soak in the Arizona lifestyle—brunch, maybe a farmers market, a little shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square, pool time at a beautiful resort, and maybe dinner somewhere elevated and fun. Scottsdale has such a great mix of relaxation, luxury, and energy.
Day 7: Sunday Faith + Family + Connection
We’d absolutely end the week at Legacy Church AZ in Chandler. Faith is a huge part of our lives, so I’d want them to experience the warmth, community, and spiritual connection we’ve found there. It’s more than just a church—it’s a place of encouragement, fellowship, purpose, and family for us. After church, we’d probably enjoy brunch or a relaxed family-style lunch and just reflect on a beautiful week together.
What I love most about this area is that it offers a little bit of everything—faith, family, luxury, sports, incredible food, desert beauty, and strong community. Whether you’re hiking at sunrise, cheering at a Suns game, worshipping at church, supporting local businesses, or just watching an Arizona sunset, there’s something really special about calling Phoenix and Scottsdale home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. First and foremost, this shoutout goes to our family—especially my husband, Dwight, who is my business partner and the backbone of so much of what we’ve built together. Entrepreneurship is not easy, and building Woof Gang Gainey Village has taken faith, sacrifice, long hours, and a shared vision. His dedication, operational leadership, and unwavering support have been instrumental in turning this dream into reality.
I’d also dedicate this shoutout to our incredible team. In a business centered around care, trust, and relationships, our groomers and front-of-house team play such an important role in creating the experience our customers know and love. Their passion, patience, and commitment to treating every dog with love truly bring our brand to life every single day.
We also owe so much gratitude to our loyal customers and the Scottsdale community for embracing us, trusting us with their beloved pets, and supporting a small local business. Every booking, every review, every referral, and every kind word has helped us grow.
Lastly, I’d love to recognize organizations like the Arizona Humane Society and Arizona Poodle Rescue, who continue to inspire us through their commitment to animal welfare and rescue efforts. They remind us that our business can be about more than grooming—it can also be about giving back, creating impact, and serving with heart.
At the center of our story is community. Woof Gang Gainey Village truly would not be what it is without the people, pets, and partnerships that have poured into this journey.
