Meet Courtney Colvin | Entrepreneur & Accountant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Colvin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work life balance is continuously evolving for me. I started this business when I was pregnant with my son almost four years ago and in 2023 i had my second! As many know, being a wife and mother while working, especially running my own business comes with challenges but I stay flexible with my time to balance the needs of my family and the needs of my business. A big motivation for me is to show my children that perseverence pays off, that life can be hard but it is also fun! Another huge factor to the balance is my very supportive husband, he supports my business and always helps to include the children in events and traveling so we can all be togher. It’s not always the most ideal but we make it work.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The equestrian world is harsh and can be very non-inclusive. I created my brand to promote inclusivitiy of different equestrians. Affordable and a variety of sizes for everyone that you don’t really see in a lot of equestrian apparel brands. Challenges come and go, and I doubt there will be a day that my business is challenge free but I overcome most of those by staying true to the equestrian community that I appeal to. I know my brand and style isn’t for everyone, but it is for many. One of my primary objectives is to promote that everyone can be an equestrian. It doesn’t matter what you look like or how expensive your horse is, it is all about your love for the sport. I hope my clothing line can inspire more equestrians to be bold and confident.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Listen, I spend most of my time outdoors if I can. ! Would have to recommend time spent in Cave Creek Regional Park and the town of Cave Creek as well. So many cute shops and local restaraunts and of course my favorite coffee spot, Carefree Roastery. A visit to the Musical Instrument Musuem is also an interesting endeavor. I always take friends there when they come visit then head to Kierland for lunch. Tru Foods is probably one of my favorite restaruants for a perfect relaxing lunch.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been so blessed with my support system! I got my love for business from my dad, he’s always been supportive that I can have a career while still being an excellent mom to my kids. He worked hard to provide us a good life and opportunities and I hope to provide the same for my family. Aside from that I absolutely have to recognize my friend and stellar photographer Alma Ramirez. I could not have accomplished so much in such little time without her ongoing support. From helping with the kids, horses, and photography I am so grateful for all she has done for me.
