We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Hardy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
“Jack of all trades, master of none.”

I couldn’t disagree more! I think it’s totally acceptable and smart to pursue multiple avenues in life! Wear different hats, be flexible and adaptable – especially in a world where change is constant.

As an artist, I cant help but want to learn and dabble in a variety of mediums to expand my knowledge, discover new passions, and keep up with the constant advances in technology. I only recently got into video editing, and it’s become one of my favorite creative outlets…and incredibly useful since TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube are incredible assets to creatives and entrepreneurs.

I LOVE creating for my small business, Sincerelee Studio, I LOVE creating content and videos for my travel blog, Hardys on Holiday, and I LOVE learning new skills that I can apply to each of these areas. And I think that’s the key to truly becoming a “jack of all trades, master of ALL.” You’ve got to LOVE it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have a background in fashion and textile design – and that’s what I’ve been doing for the past 10 years! And I love it, BUT I’ve always wanted to have a business of my own.

In 2020, I finally said “I’m gonna do it,” and I started my little side hustle, Sincerelee Studio. It began as a greeting card and custom artwork business, and I have since expanded and now offer graphic design services. I have worked with a variety of clients creating any graphic design needs for their business including logos, branding essentials, and more.

One of my favorite parts of running my own business is creating custom artwork for my customers. I love bringing other people’s visions to life, and find it so rewarding.

But having a small business doesn’t come without its challenges. Figuring out how to grow my brand and find new clients is a roller coaster – which is why I appreciate every single person who chooses to work with me – whether that’s purchasing a greeting card or trusting me to create their business’s logo.

I’m still learning so much when it comes to running my own business, but it’s an incredibly exciting and fun journey!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d say…let’s Google it!

All jokes aside, I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina but have been living in Los Angeles the past 7.5 years. My husband and I just moved back to NC at the end of 2021, and it’s wild how much Raleigh has grown. There is SO much more to do, eat, and see, and I’m slowly scratching the surface.

With that said – any NC people reading this, DM me some of your favorite spots!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve firstly got to give a shoutout to my husband, Zack. He is always so supportive of my creative endeavors. He encourages me, cheers my on in the successful times, comforts me in the tough times, teaches me, and even learns new things with me! I couldn’t ask for a better partner in life.

My second shout out goes to all the people who have supported me! From shopping my Etsy to a “like” on social media – these are the people that allow me to do what I love!
