We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Kelm and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was literally sitting at my kitchen table “mad teary eyed” after a frustrating day at work seeing 28 patients in a day and said to my spouse Navin, “I just want to go back ‘Full Circle’ to the days where we actually took care of people.” The days when we spent time listening to patients, honed in on the true diagnosis, and actually fixed the problem. Not pumping through people like numbers and giving them “cookie cutter” treatment plans. I wanted to create a relaxed, friendly environment where people felt welcome to come in. Lastly, I wanted to treat people’s health comprehensively and discuss the “Full Circle” of treatment options, not just surgery, medications, etc.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It’s a fun, relaxing, and professional clinical setting that “feels like a living room” where I can apply my 22 years of medical expertise to help care for people. I try to regularly reflect and ask the community what their needs are. I don’t just assume I know what they need. That’s very important to me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh this is so fun! Sedona hiking and pizza in town afterwards for sure! I also recommend renting ATVs in Sedona. Maybe a jaunt to Flagstaff to sit outside at a coffee shop on a beautiful mid morning. In Phoenix, I recommend hitting The Parlor which Navin designed and also visiting Valentine Phx because I think owners Blaze and Chadwick are a great representation of wonderful people. OHSO for a cold brew is always fun! Hiking in Phx Mountain preserve is great too! Breakfast at Lux downtown or Breakfast Club Biltmore never disappoint.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give a shoutout to Navin Pathangay! If it weren’t for that day at the kitchen table of him responding to my fuss with “Well, why don’t you open a medical practice and call it ‘Full Circle,’ I don’t know if I would’ve opened. He is also an amazing person with endless generosity and support toward me and others around him. This helped me facilitate and have the confidence to open it. Also, former Phoenix Mayor Paul Johnson had coffee with me. He grilled me in a “good way” and basically made me analyze whether I had what it would take to open this practice. He helped me take the leap. Since then, he has continued to provide mentorship to me. There are many more community members that have helped! I’m grateful for all of the support. It’s absolutely necessary to succeed.
