We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Padilla and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process was to build an Empire I could call my home. To build an Empire others could call home. I wanted to build a business that was a safe haven not just for me, but for others to feel comfort, empowerment, and a feeling of safety. I knew building my business up would take hard work and dedication but with the hopes of effortlessly running my own business years down the road. Work smarter, not harder, right?
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Not Your Normal Boudoir is a business for women to explore their creative sensual aspects of who they are. I offer a very creative and different experience for my clients always striving to never have the same work for each women who steps into my studio. I am proud of myself daily for the creative, artistic work I create and put out there. I recently did a session when my client brought a beautiful bouquet of flowers and wine and we created a very sensual, and unique look with just two simple props. It’s taken me 2 years to get where I am today working full time for my business and it has not always been easy but nothing incredible comes easy. When I feel like I am getting burnt out, or not as creative as I wished to be, I simply run a Model Call and do something creative on my bucket list. It has always been easy to pull myself out of Creative funks because you just need to put yourself out there and do it! I have learned so many things along the way and one of the things that has always stuck with me is not Comparing yourself to other creatives in a negative manner and more so empowering myself by whispering to myself, “I can do this!” “I will be better” “I will reach my goals.” Manifesting your dreams and goals is crucial for a successful business. If I can do it so can you!
I want the world to know who Not Your Normal Boudoir is and with me, you can achieve and be anything or anyone you want! I am your safe space.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came down to AZ I would treat her to a playful, inquisitive and daring day! We would go out for Brunch + drinks at OHSO Brewery, followed by some fun Arcade Games at Dave + Busters. We would spend majority of our day there with our next trip at a fun Escape Room and try to beat the timer by escaping in time!! Lastly, a queen deserves a delicious fancy dinner getting spoiled at Maple + Ash. There is so much to do in AZ but those places are always a good time!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have recently completely changed the way I run my business and now offer a more luxury experience all thanks to a group called Alex Loveland Boudoir for Photographers. Alex and another photographer Kelli Marie Boudoir both sell many guides to improve the way you run your business and they have both tremendously helped me along with the other 11,000 photographers in their groups who offer guidance, opinions, help and support. I am very thankful for the Boudoir Community around me who have given me nothing short of incredible support.
