We had the good fortune of connecting with Daga Kawalec and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daga, how do you think about risk?
Risk is fundamental in business and in order to grow we need to get out of our comfort zone. Most of my life has been about taking risks starting with moving to the United States alone at just 22 years old without a job.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Celebrity Furnishings creates custom made upholstered sofas, benches, settees. We specialize in a very unique sitting arrangements often in round, octagon and variety of other geometric shapes. While traveling the world I became very interested in the extraordinary furniture designs and wanted to offer my own spin on them at affordable prices. I believe in quality above all and I also believe that everyone deserves it. My business is my heart and soul. I love where I am today with my company but it costed me many sacrifices. Someone said “If it would be easy everyone would do it.” I did listen to my intuition, guidance from above and persuaded my dream. Quitting is easy but doesn’t take me to the place that I want to be. There is still a long road ahead and I am excited to be on that road. Sometimes when I look back I think I did the impossible and that’s when I am even more motivated. When clients purchase my furniture I know I gave it a 100% of quality, 100% of best customer service because they deserve it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite resort is Montelucia, I could stay there easily for a week and enjoy the food, spa, restaurants, amenities. I just love the ambience, the Spanish architecture and decor as well as their high-quality service. I also love the True Kitchen restaurant because their ingredients are high quality and I enjoy healthy food. There are many great places in the Phoenix metro to visit and enjoy, too many to list!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are certain people who shaped me, my decisions and helped me set goals for life. Starting with my mother who worked very hard as a teacher and raised me to follow my passions and to never give up. There was also a men, a friend of the family; a co-creator of a famous luxury brand of upholstered furniture in Poland. I grew up under a very strong influence of that prestigious company and started working there right after high school.
