We had the good fortune of connecting with Dajean Bell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dajean, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say the most important factor to our success as a band would be our passion. We’ve been a band since 2013 and had a few lineup up changes. However, the passion, the drive to write and play music would be the most significant and driving factor in our success. Playing death metal/deathcore isn’t the biggest money maker. And we’ve never been the type of band that wants to play stadiums for clout. We’re here to inspire and just share our brutal music with the world. Sometimes it’s not words that I feel fans connect with it may be the energy or vibe the notes generate. Without a doubt, passion is the biggest driving factor in our band.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think I’d say what sets us part is our music brings in new fans and old heads alike. It took a while for us to find our what our actual sound was. Fortunately, in the early days we wrote a lot songs and constantly review them. We do that to this day, I’m mean some of the singles we’re working on have 5+ variations. When we did have some lineup changes it did impact our writing a bit to help incorporate the newer memebrs and their unique voices. Sometimes you run to a problem and you won’t have a solution right then and there. But we constantly work at trying new ideas to see what fits best for Exiled.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me personally I am a vegetarian so I’d probably take them to the Green. Pretty much anything you’d love to eat vegan or vegetarian. I am a bit of a homebody myself unless there’s a concert ongoing. We have a wondeful music scene out here. Would have to for sure take them my favorite little dive bar Baileys.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Recognition and credit to all our friends and family and other bands who helped us along the way. I,Pariah
