We had the good fortune of connecting with Darleen Santore (aka Coach Dar) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darleen, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that being bold and taking a risk on things that you are not only passionate about, but also gifted in is one of the greatest ways to advance your life and get the most fulfillment out of life. In the end, it is so much better to say ” I am so glad that I did and tried vs. I wished I had.” I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for taking the risks that I did along the way. It is in those risks that we learn the lessons that help us grow.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Performance Meets Purpose is a coaching and consulting company that was created years ago in an effort to reach people in need. I was driven to start my practice using the tools that I knew both as a therapist and as an executive to create a coaching model that helps people think outside of the box. I help individuals gain mental strength, clarity and focus in order to live well, lead well, and reach new heights. The key to achieving your goals is to raise the bar in your thinking and daily approach at life through customized coaching techniques.

As we know, starting any business is never easy in the beginning, nor is it along the way. What has gotten me through the challenges along the way has been my commitment to my “Why” I started it, which is to awaken greatness in others daily.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start by staying either at Civana, The Omni Montelucia, The Phoenician or the Fairmont Princess, four of my favorite resorts and spas in town. One of my favorite things to do at Civana is the Sound Bath Meditation as well as experiencing their many classes and spa treatments available.

I love to dine at Francine’s (at Scottsdale Fashion Square), The Mission (in Old Town Scottsdale), and Flint (in the Biltmore area).

My favorite place to hike is Pinnacle Peak and I enjoy golfing just about anywhere in town. I also love taking people indoor sky diving and bowling at Mavericks. I love taking people the Polo Championship, Waste Management Open, and a game for any of our amazing professional sports teams,

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate the shoutout to my mother who I lost two years ago. I learned everything that I teach on mental resiliency from watching the way my mother led her life despite her daily health challenges. Jon Gordon also deserves credit in recognition in my story. He is a friend and author who has inspired not only me, but millions of others around the world in developing positive leaders and teams.
