Meet Dawn Pratt | Artist and husbands personal assistant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawn Pratt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dawn, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Being artistic or creative has always been very meditative for me. I feel most myself, most at ease and able to relax and enjoy the flow. Life can be quick and hectic and stressful, art helps release all of that!Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think recognizing myself as more of a creative gives me more freedom to try anything I want! I think that is the part of me that I’m most proud of. My style of art changes all the time, sometimes even daily, I love painting but I also find myself randomly enjoying clay or resin or jewelry making. I love trying new ideas! The biggest challenge I run into is turning ideas into what I’m actually aiming at, sometimes trial and error gets the better of me! It’s always frustrating to have something in mind and having to burn through tons of product or supplies in order to finally create the idea!Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Phoenix is an amazing place to live! When friends visit me I love to drag them all over the place! So many interesting places to eat, drink and enjoy the desert! Favorite breakfast places are Harlow’s café in Tempe, or Butters Pancakes and Cafe in Scottsdale! You definitely have to spend a day at the botanical gardens, their nighttime events are incredible also! During fall and spring hiking is amazing in Arizona!! A couple of my favorites are the Wave Cave and the Hieroglyphics trail! And paddle boarding the Salt River is a gorgeous day out filled with wild horses and gorgeous scenery!! My favorite dinner and drink spots are the Modern Oyster and El Chorro! And best of all if your friends are here for a while I like to take them up to Jerome or Sedona! Both of those places are must sees while visiting Arizona!Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents deserve most of the credit, they are both very artistic people themselves! I grew up being encouraged to learn new things and experiment with anything I was interested in at the time! They’ve never held me back or told me I couldn’t do some thing. My husband deserves a huge pat on the back also! He is always supplying me with a creative space and all the tools I need to do anything I feel like doing! And top those off with some extremely creative friends who are fun and supportive and amazing to spend time with!!
