We had the good fortune of connecting with Devin Haynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Devin , what is the most important factor behind your success?
I truly believe my secret behind my most recent years of success has been my confidence. I lost it for a few years but after evaluation and reflection of my journey I could move forward with a more focused vision. You tend to draw from a different metaphorical well of motivation to challenge yourself and evolve. Your reliance through those obstacles, if you continue to check in on yourself, will naturally guide you into successful situations. If I am feeling doubtful, I remind myself of the wise words of Snoop D-O- Double GG “I want to thank me for believing me in me. I want to thank me for doing all this hard work…for never quitting…for trying to give more than what I receive. I want to thank me for being me at all times.” It always gives me the boost of confidence that I need!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Starting out, it took years for my vision to evolve into what it is today by failing in my first few starts ups and having life changing events such as motherhood abruptly change my personal priorities. However, that did not change how invested I was in having my own business and had to learn how to incorporate the two. Establishing Boss Moms Party was the balance that worked for me and is still building. I am currently working on incorporating more virtual events for Boss Moms Party, an organization which offers support on topics such as business ownership, motherhood and providing community resources. After the state wide ‘Shelter at Home’ order was enacted, I had to reconsider how to connect with and support our #bossmoms and also considered focusing on new topics such as mental health wellness while finding a balance between family and work.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being an honorary native of Arizona I love to explore the state and there is still so much to explore. But with the current pandemic my current my top suggestions (that are COVID-19 approved) suggestions are: • Social distancing on my favorite trails along the McDowell Mountain Preserve • Ordering take out from Delicious Factory in Tempe • Keeping active at home with the “Home Grown Booty” workout plan by Ian “The Masster” Simon (IG @the_instabooty)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh gosh there’s too many to name! My life story has really boiled down to motherhood and business. Especially when I started working for myself full time, I leaned on old family friendships with Brittany Alexander of Caked by B Glam Co. (IG @cakedbybglamco) and Jalila Jones of Art by Jalila (IG @jalilajart) and newer friendships with Dajanay Robinson of Euphoric Enterprises (IG @euphoricenterprises) and Briana Brown of All Mix’d Up Beauty Lounge (IG @allmixdupaz) to face challenges in business, motherhood, personal life and all of the delicate balances in between. We’ve been on some JOURNEYS and they have definitely been continued sources of inspiration and motivation to continue with my passions and goals both professionally and personally.
