We had the good fortune of connecting with Diane Donato and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diane, how does your business help the community?
By using clothing and colors as healing tools to dress in what makes you feel better you in turn treat others better. Also, knowing the non verbal messages clothing and colors send attracts people to want to get to know you. The yin and Yang of clothing and colors helps create the balance we all need to help heal ourselves and the planet.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For Clothes Encounters I studied very hard since 1980. I invested in workshops through the years and I read every book I could find on fashion and image . My studies with Keshav Howe brought me to studying Chinese Medicine and healing using the five elements. I wrote my book Clothes Encounters of the Divine Kind and incorporated all of my learning, practical and spiritual, in it. It was a lot of work but I enjoyed every minute of it. Even the petty tyrants along the way were great teachers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the Desert Museum for starters. I love 4th Avenue and the shops on it. The Hub Restaurant is also a favorite fun spot. I love Italian food since I am from Connecticut and have had the best Italian food money can buy I found it difficult to find really good Italian food but Vivace’s and Vero Amore are the closest I could find to good Italian food. I just discovered the Baja Cafe and find it is the best breakfast food I have ever had.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many people who have helped along the way. Through the years Keshav Howe, Master Shaman Has been my teacher for 20 years. Jonni Campbell has been a huge support in the last few years . Mark Headley. Filmmaker, has been a huge support in my newly acquired acting career as has Avai D’Amico.
