We had the good fortune of connecting with Catie Menke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Catie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I was retiring from my dance career, I knew I wanted to start my own business. I wanted to find my own voice and creative expression. I spent a lot of time journaling about the future and wrote out multiple ideas and concepts. I started noticing patterns and themes and choose to trust them. My business has morphed and changed from its origination, but the core purpose of starting my business has remained the same: bringing women together to share and express their authentic experiences.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Where I am today professionally, I feel found me – which might be odd to say. But I think through all the twist and turns of my creative expression, it has led me to what I am doing today. I have created a website, catiemenke.com, fueled by a mission to encourage self-love through creativity and connection. To share women’s stories and to support women as they maneuver through all the dimensions of their self-love journey. The site brings truth, authenticity and beauty all together in (what I feel) a really unique way. Through contributor posts, editorial style imagery, events and interviews. I wouldn’t say that this has been easy. There have definitely been some bumps and pivots. But pivots are okay. I trust the path and the journey I’m creatively suppose to be on. The biggest lessons I’ve learned throughout this whole thing is to trust my instincts and to choose the path of light, instead of hiding in the dark. I’m not serving anyone by being less than I am.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my bestie was coming into town we’d probably drive up to Sedona for a little wine adventure at Page Spring Cellars. Get massages and facials at Mountain Shadows Resort. And eat way too much La Grande Orange corn pizza (surprisingly so good)!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this Shoutout to my family. My mom. My dad. And my brother. They are my core and have been with me through every step of my journey. I wouldn’t be where I’m at without their love, light and constant support.
