Meet Diego Robles | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Diego Robles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diego, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I always knew I had a desire to start a business but I never knew what I wanted to do. When the pandemic hit and the world was shut down, I didn’t want to be at home and do nothing. I wanted to come out of quarantine a better version of myself. I always liked to work out but I really started to double down and focus during the 6 weeks in quarantine to come back and shock the people I know. During that time I thought of an idea to start my own brand of active wear. Coming from a Latin background I also wanted to highlight that aspect as well, I lost sleep because of how excited I was to come up with something great. That’s how Aztec strength was made.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I wanted to create a brand that so much more than just clothing. I called my business Aztec Strength for a reason. I think of all the Latin people who have had the strength to better themselves in life. It doesn’t matter what goal they’re reaching for but the strength within to overcome the challenges and obstacles to simply become better. And I also feel like that’s a message that everyone can relate to. Plus, the shirts are made with 95% cotton and 5% spandex meaning that these shirts are both breathable and comfortable to wear in the gym or just on a casual day. So When I say that these shirts are the softest and stretchiest I’m not lying.
One of the challenges I that comes to mind is the research that I had to do in the industry. The “fitness clothing” industry is a $117 billion dollar industry. So just thinking of all the other companies that are competing is very intimidating. But what helped me overcome the stress of thinking about those other companies is that I’m not trying to be like them. I’m not trying to be like Nike, or lulu lemon, or gymshark I just want to be the first Aztec Strength and I know I have the ability to run a successful business.
One of the lessons I’ve learned is that the lessons will never stop. And I’m ok with that. Especially since I just started I know that I have a very long way to go and so much to learn. And even then the learning will never stop.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Vegas and people have this picture and image when they think of Las vegas. And like any place, there is a big difference when living and visiting in a certain place. My favorite spots are away from the Las Vegas strip. Sickies at town square is great place for burgers. Sushi neko near china town is my personal favorite place for sushi. I also love movies so going to the theater is one of my favorite activities. One of the coolest movie theaters is Dolby theater. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a couple of people that I would like to give a shout out to. First, I’d love to give a shout out to my parents. Both of my parents show me the courage, hard work and dedication to what is is to be the ideal parents. My mother is a huge supporter of my business but the reason that I admire my mom is because she is always making sure I’m happy with what I’m doing. My father, he is my super hero. There is nothing that this man cannot do and I have so much respect for him. He never really had his own business but he was always an entrepreneur. Whether if it was welding, plumbing, landscaping, to even catering food he always found a way to succeed.
Another I’d like to give a shout to are the select group of close friends I have. They know who the are. Everyone of those people are in my circle for a reason. Not only are they great supporters but they also tell me when I mess up and they let me know when I’m doing good. I feel like it’s important to have those type of friends who aren’t ‘yes man’ but those to tell you when you’re in the wrong.
And special shout out to my close friend Cody Butler for helping me design my logo. He’s a great artist and great photographer so make sure you follow him on social media.
Lastly, I’d like to give my boss doctor Naren Chelian a shoutout. He’s a huge mentor to me because he’s an example of how successful I want to be in my business and in life. He would probably say something humbling and try to say he’s just a guy who owns a business but that’s why I look up to him. He knows how successful he is but he knows how to stay humble. I love his motto he lives by. And I’m sure it’s a quote from somewhere but he’s always saying that he “doesn’t want to be known as a great business man but just known as a great man.”
So yea those are my shout outs
