We had the good fortune of connecting with Dinesh Tadepalli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dinesh, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It started about 3 years ago, when our family was at an ice cream shop. We had fun eating ice cream and threw the cups and spoons in the bin. After noticing hundreds of plastic spoons in there, a question stuck as a lightning – As an educated person, who is well aware of plastic pollution, why didn’t I think twice before using a plastic spoon just for few minutes of fun?? My 10 minutes of convenience is causing hundreds of years of pollution.

That question disturbed me deeply and pushed me to go all-in to find the best alternative to plastic, not just for replacing it but making people think before using another plastic spoon!

What should our readers know about your business?
incredible eats innovated edible cutlery to replace the use and need of single use plastic utensils. We aim to reduce 100 Million single use plastic by 2025 – 100 Million, being daily average plastic disposal just in the US.

It started with a question at an ice cream shop – “Why do we not think twice before use a plastic spoon? That too, just for a few minutes where it will stay in the planet for centuries”. We intend people and the businesses to make the switch in a more fun an innovative way.

We are frugal and whacky in marketing, and with just a $2000 ad spend was able to make $80,000 in revenue in the first two years in the B2C channel alone. This was possible by smart marketing practices valuing each and every penny spent with maximum ROI.

Cost per product was our toughest challenge to sell, when compared to super cheap plastics. We overcame that by offering as an upsell to the shops hence making a win-win for both shops, its customers and the planet!

We want everyone reading this to think twice before they use another plastic cutlery, please convert that to a reusable or if single use is a must, edible cutlery. We must preserve the environment for our future generations.

Did you EAT your SPOON today?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take my friend out for a morning hike (with an ocean view), visit a donut shop at a local family owned shop for breakfast and go for a drive to the golden gate bridge. Have lunch at a cuisine that he never experienced, (vegan sushi, vegan ethiopian) and head back home for spending quality family and TV time. Next few days, go for some adventure like kayaking, have fun at an escape room or just chit-chat on long drives through national parks. In my view, I love outdoors, not the city kind but the national park kind. My favorite place in the US is Alaska with it’s serene terrain and glaciers. And I’m a huge fan of reading about ancient hindu mythology and how our ancients used to think and act.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to credit my co-founder, brains behind the machinery – Kruvil Patel from India. With his help, we were able to manufacture edible cutlery at scale. So much kudos and thanks to him for working with us and making this product possible.

I would also like to thank Jack Kneubuhl our first employee and current vice president of sales, who worked with us since the beginning to help with sales and marketing – on the B2C and e-commerce platforms.
