We had the good fortune of connecting with Don Majer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Don, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
When I am able to think creatively and express my authentic self I am happiest. I grew up very sheltered and hid a lot of who I really am from the world. Once I realized that there was no need to present a mask to anyone and that it was okay to be different and express myself, I found that I was so much happier. I believe that if you love yourself and are confident in who you really are, the world has no choice but to accept you.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My personal brand has to be what I am proud of the most. I planned everything out and wrote a detailed plan on what I wanted for my business. I have since made every effort to further my craft and continue to invest into my business.

I started on a small scale in 2018 by getting my name, and the fact that I am a fashion stylist out there. I was able to monetize everything by offering services like alterations and fashion advice. I now offer styling assistance (on and off set), consultations, closet reconstruction, alterations, wardrobe pulls, clothing customizations and more.

This has not been an easy road as the fashion industry is so broad so it can be hard to find your niche or what works for you as an individual. I have always been super confident in my work so it has helped move everything along for me. I also believe that networking is the key to success, so I treat every opportunity like a networking opportunity.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would probably spend most of our time downtown or in Scottsdale. There are so many nice restaurants and bars in both places. A few of my favorite places for drinks in Scottsdale are Az/88 and The Canal Club at the Scott Resort.

I also love shopping and I must say that Scottsdale Fashion Square does not disappoint. It has a great mix of luxury along with normal retail stores that I respect.

I would also recommend checking out all of the trails to hike in the area. There are a lot of scenic views in Arizona and Echo Canyon Trail has to be my favorite.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe thanks to so many brilliant stylists and creatives that have came before me. To mention a few, Jason Bolden, Kollin Carter, and Law Roach have all been a huge inspiration to me and it’s been great to see them thriving in spaces that I wish to be in one day. On a more personal level I believe I get my love for fashion and appearance from my mother. I grew up admiring how she was always so very well put together so that has stayed with me throughout the years.
