We had the good fortune of connecting with Eduarda Schroder and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eduarda, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
Because I believe we are shaped by our childhood experiences, I vowed to be very aware of how I was experiencing motherhood, with the goal of raising all around healthy capable humans.
I was very interested in the passions of each child and worked at opening doors wherever I could. I learned enough about the subjects they were interested in to be able to provide support, encouragement as well as resources. Resources came in the form of mentors, learning opportunities, or a listening ear.
Essentially my presence signaled that they mattered and all the while they were learning self-reliance and community building..
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Although I first worked as a social worker and then in Logistics, volunteer work allowed room for creativity and exploration.
An area I am particularly proud of is being an ally to the LGBTQ+ community. I am the mother of a trans youth and to provide support I got involved in organizations like GLSEN and HRC.
The latest endeavor is the creation of Chandler Pride, a 501(3)c that will support LGBTQ+ folks in as many ways as possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Anyone visiting Arizona has to do a little hiking.
I am very fond of downtowns, and we’d go see Tucson’s, Chandler’s, and Gilbert’s.
But Bisbee is where we would hang out for a few days. That eclectic town won me over the first time I lay foot on its streets.
