We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Caroffino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, how does your business help the community?
eCaroffino Creatives has one consistent goal: Open avenues of artistic experimentation and expression. We do this by interviewing, reviewing, educating and collaborating! As most artists encounter rich and interesting experiences, people and places, their art reflects the evolution of intellectual space. The Creatives team should always maintain a round-table attitude because “Better than” and “Worse than” comparisons have no place in the artistic sphere – we benefit the community and the world by encouraging direct, concise, constructive feedback on artwork. This is not toxic positivity – this is clear, actionable communication of goals and successes from each of the group’s individual seats of expertise. The world can benefit from this sort of teamwork. We are committed to fidelity when it comes to the artistic vision!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From the first sound or sight of my music and brand one will notice it dares to walk the line between clean & professional and irreverent & tongue-in-cheek. I make creative decisions as though I am playing chess. If I look a step ahead and don’t like the results, I look one more step ahead until I have the best, longest-term idea of my victory. At any point, I am ready to throw the entire plan away and re-envision the project according to the vision and the reality. I am most proud of my collaborations in creating music with animal symbolism. The songs are generally goofy and inane-sounding but are written with the purpose of uplifting and overcoming difficulty. Even the most satirical songs, with a nod toward how politically and socially tangled we are, will remind the listener that he or she has a say and can make those key choices everyday to support what’s positive and kind. I have always written this way! I would sit in my room and contemplate some life-issue while trying to put the feelings into sounds, or make sounds that really elicited feelings.
It has been years of trial-and-error. I have written music for as long as I have played any instrument, I have an un-ending thirst to create unique, powerful communication that requests a deeper understanding and awareness of self and society. I have learned that “Never giving up” is built-in, a necessity, when you have a thirst this large. For me, “Giving Up” only means “Not Right Now”. All things are possible to those who prepare and those who wait.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place I would take a visitor in Flagstaff AZ is Buffalo Park. This town is perfect for the outdoorsy type, so a hike is the best introduction. So after a couple hours on the trail we would have to head downtown to Hotel Monte Vista for a happy hour brew! From there we could meander up to Hops, down to Firecreek, or even get some lunch at Dara Thai. We would likely walk around and see what catches the eye. ear or stomach. There are diners, coffee shops, breweries, musicians, burgers and barbque! One final thing – we would have to visit Bookman’s and try to find a new record, book or instrument!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family certainly deserves shout-out as well as all the friendly faces I’ve met while wandering. Flagstaff, AZ welcomed me graciously and I cannot ask for a better local community for my artistic goals. Friends in Houston, TX, my Grandma, Brother, Mom and Dad all helped me attain the robust center of knowledge and skills I utilize every day. Thank you to PEAK School, Tracy Braatz, the Drossmans, Blue Truck Handyman and Vidal Valenzuela. I have encountered an abundance of kindness and opportunity from these people. Thank you DuB and Down and the Flagstaff business community like Dirty Steve at Monte V, Mitch and David from Flagstaff Brewing, Steve from Pizza Patio and Katie from Firecreek. WOW!!
