We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Lynne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erica, why did you pursue a creative career?
I once heard, as an artist it’s our job to create art that inspires and lifts the weight of the world off of the shoulders of those who enjoy it… and by doing that we can change the world, and help make it a better place. That idea really rocked me. Music has touched my heart and captivated my mind like nothing else on this planet for as long as I can remember. I want to spend the rest of my life exploring my sonic creativity while sharing it with others, hoping to lift the weight off of their shoulders while warming their hearts & touching their souls.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud that I create music that is beautiful & unique to me. It’s actually one of the things I cherish most in my life… I’m beyond grateful, words can’t even begin to describe. My musical journey began in 2015, when I wrote my 1st ep “Keepers”. I didn’t know anyone in any music scene, and had never performed before… but wanted to with all my heart. Not knowing where to start, I began playing open mics 4-5 nights a week to get comfortable performing. I ended up making friends and getting invites to play other things… it was so awesome & exciting. I soon had the confidence to reach out for gigs, and eventually began putting on shows of my own. Everything has really been a dream come true so far, I can’t wait to see what the future holds. I have a lot of ideas brewing and beginning to take root so stay tuned friends!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Any spot outside on a night with a good sunset is my favorite spot in the city. But I also love floating down the salt river & paddle boarding at canyon lake if its warm enough. We would definitely hop on some bird scooters and ride around, hit up a couple arcade bars, catch a comedy show. Grab a bite to eat at Cornish Pasty & Arizona Wilderness Brewing.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is dedicated to my mom, Terry Lynne. We lost her to cancer last summer & I miss her so much. She was always there when I needed her & I never would have made it down here to Phoenix to begin chasing my music dreams without her. I’m releasing a new ep this summer & it’s also dedicated to my beautiful Momma. I’m calling it “Mom” and releasing it on her birthday [July 3rd, 2021]. It consists of 5 songs I have been working on for a long time now. Most of what you’ll hear was written by my mom’s bedside while she slept, and during my healing process after she passed. These songs became sort of a time capsule for me, but also helped me heal and mean a lot to me. Love & miss you Momma <3
