We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Kerby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting a business was never an aspiration of mine. I’ve always had other goals for my career path and that just wasn’t one of them. I completed college and went straight in to the law enforcement field. I’ve been in law enforcement for 11 years now and in it’s own way, had become routine.

When I was about to have my second child, I knew I needed something to work on and work for during my maternity leave. Postpartum with my first was a bit of an ugly place. I wasn’t going to work, I didn’t have a routine, and nothing to challenge me. I had to make a change the second time around.

After my first child, I was introduced to a brand of hair and skincare products from Monat. The products were like nothing I had ever used before, I was thoroughly impressed. They were a game changer for my postpartum hair loss and gave me my confidence back. I was telling anyone who would listen about my experience. I started thinking to myself that maybe I should give the business side of Monat a shot.

A month before I was due with baby #2, I decided to make a change and get a head start on postpartum life. I chose to start my business with Monat to challenge myself and help as many people as possible. It is absolutely one of the best decisions I have ever made. I continue to challenge myself daily in ways I never expected and I am helping so many men and women make improvements in their daily lives.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The network marketing field involves a fair amount of on camera time and putting your face out there in order to be successful. That was terrifying for me. When I was younger I was outgoing and carefree, but somewhere along the way I lost that and took on a huge fear of being in front of people. This business has pushed my limits and helped me to overcome those fears. I have a new found confidence that has been transformative in all aspects of my life, not just the business side. It is exhilarating.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If the season was on our side, I would try and take them on a hike across the Grand Canyon. I have done this a couple times and it has a special place in my heart. We would then head to Bisbee to check out the shops and eat at Poco for unbelievable vegan food. With the days remaining, I would show them places in the Huachuca mountains, eat at Indochine in Sierra Vista, and make the final stop at Copper Brothel Brewery in Sonoita.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could not have dreamed of going through this journey without my friend Brianna Silvio. She put this business in perspective for a busy working Mom like myself and has been there for me every step of the way. Brianna is a true leader who continues to push me every day. Her pushes and guidance have helped me strengthen my business, build my confidence, and have the opportunity to help others.
