We had the good fortune of connecting with Felicia Luca and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Felicia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After five years of working in corporate America, scheduling and running health and wellness events, and building a successful new consumer division for the organization, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. As a result of my family’s intervention following my surgery, I decided to follow my passion. I set up my lifestyle blog to share what I’ve always been passionate about: creative designing, event decor, home decor, gardening, and travel. Midlife generation was to be the voice of this time. I scheduled a timeline to follow and began featuring gift guides for all occasions, with articles highlighting midlife, travel, DIYs, florals and pets. Then I began showcasing my unique event styling.

Five months later my designs have become more public. My mannequin tree creations, my pampas grass specialty decor and non-edible cakes are now featured at weddings, celebrations, events and in lobbies

Funny how things just progressed; with companies and products reaching out to me to review and promote their products; having people randomly contact me to rent one of my designs.

Now I am hoping to influence other midlife entrepreneurs to follow their intuition and never look back because with events scheduled where my designs will be featured, I look forward to what the future holds…at my ripe young age.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the owner and content creator of Lifestyle Gift Guide and the owner and creative designer of Lifestyle GG Boutique.

I’m a fun-loving woman who loves life’s experiences. I wake up every day, no matter how I might be feeling and say “life is good.” Some of my favorite things include spending time with family and friends, gift shopping, creating new projects, decorating, traveling, entertaining, reading, culture, florals, sampling new Gluten Free products as I live with celiac, driving, dancing (lots of it!) and traveling.

I live by four mottos: Smiling is contagious, Life is the greatest train ride, Well behaved women rarely make history and the one I preach all the time: Character is so important. And yes—the last two do align!

I am most proud of my family: my husband and children. We have a very close bond that resonates to whomever we meet.

Years back, I started out as a sales rep in the food industry but then became a mom to three kids and traveled with them across the country for their activities and adventures. When they were older, I wanted to get back into the workforce so I became a full-time health fair corporate sales representative at the age of 54(midlife). Then in October 2019 I started a new division for my company which introduced consumers to the newest products on the market. But then COVID hit! As things halted across the world I reached out to two amazing women who helped me start a podcast offering entrepreneurs another avenue to meet with consumers. This led to published gift guides, product reviews, boxed gift curations and podcast collaborations.

When the world opened up again, I was asked to help the health fair side of our company juggle two full-time positions that led to many hours and stress. It wasn’t easy, then I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. As a result of my family’s intervention following my surgery, I decided to follow my passion with much gusto and passion. Started a lifestyle blog and launched the Lifestyle GG Boutique.

It wasn’t easy starting Lifestyle Gift Guide, as my head was rolling with so many ideas, but I focused and pushed through.

I want other midlifers to know that when you set out to be an entrepreneur, at this stage in life, you bring so much wisdom, skills and passion to the table that “fail” is not a word that we live by, rather “success” till a ripe age of 100.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As I tell my friends and family, when visiting Arizona, they need one week, no shorter and make sure to walk the dirt and get up close to the cactus.

Fly into Phoenix, stay in Scottsdale, plan a few days in Sedona and visit the Grand Canyon.

Phoenix is a great city and the zoo I’ve gone to since I was kid and will continue to visit. You enjoy it’s wonder differently at every age.

Scottsdale is a great town with it’s many shops, bars, restaurants. and of course Old Town. I especially love Blanco Tacos & Tequila restaurant, as it offers great atmosphere and a fab menu: Mexican, Southwestern and Vegetarian. And. let’s not forget the tequila!

Sedona is a must see and feel. I highly recommend staying 2 nights and walking everywhere you can in this red rock country. There is something so mystical that happens when you do. And, shopping offers so much with it’s colors and vibrant art.

The Grand Canyon is a must and the West Rim is my favorite area to visit. Not just for the Skywalk but because you are walking the land of the Hualapai. With their open arms, they introduce you their wonderful indigenous culture. You must always dance with them when you visit. You’ll feel so connected to their energy.
