We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Bonincontri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frank, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor has always been a combination of three pillars for me, authenticity, hard work, and consistency. Being true to the camera as far as telling a story and capturing specific shots, but also authenticity as a person. Staying true to yourself, clients. Being able to understand their needs then delivering quality photos and services, but above all else is delivering an experience that others cannot.
Hard work is required in all phases of brand success from the hard work needed when starting out, keeping it going, evolving, and staying ahead of competitors. Similar to sports, you have to develop your craft and keep taking it to the next level. Hard work is always about being comfortable in uncomfortable situations and then winning while learning in those situations.
Consistency really covers everything. If you are unable to be consistent in everything you do, whether its services, product, attitude, or growing, you are just spinning your wheels. The brand, the experience, growth, all of it requires consistent effort, drive, passion and desire to be the best.
Overall, the most important factor in my brand success comes down to the most basic, foundational principal which is conversation. Technology is great, I love it, use it and live in it as most do, but, face to face interaction is, and will always be key to success. Networking on social media does not make a personal connection like truly getting to know someone and speaking with them in person.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always had the photography bug and most certainly the fascination with cars and racing. I started with shooting photos at all of my daughters sports games throughout middle and high school and also capturing photos at car shows and local racing events. I grew up in car dealerships so my love for cars has never been focused on one style, brand or specific racing series.
Its been a long journey to get where I am, and still a long way to go as I believe in the saying of “What got you here, won’t get you there” so the grind never stops. There is always room for improvement whether its technology, gear and equipment, education and skill and technique.
Challenges always come and I have overcame quite a bit, but all have paved the way for me to do what I do and be the person I am. It drives me and gives me confidence knowing what I can do and what I am capable of doing.
The brand is all about connecting. I want Street Official Media to be the bridge to new relationships both professionally and personally. When we would see nice cars growing up we would say that car is “Street Official” meaning that it was the real deal. The same goes for the business and why I included that name. I wanted to throw it back to my youth and also have it represent my foundation. I am the real deal as far as being a genuine person and truly value relationships and experiences. The cars and the camera are the bridges to creating that experience and relationship.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have family all over the country but if I had a friend visiting in Arizona, I would have to plan a week that features catching some MLB spring training games, attending the Scuderia Southwest Cars & Coffee, hiking in Sedona and then some food/drinks at The Duce in downtown Phoenix. There is so much to do in Arizona but those would have to be my mandatory itinerary items to start.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a lot of people that have a key pieces to my success in life and behind the camera but I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without the support of my wife and daughter. Having their support and love is huge. My mom, aunt and family who put those core values and behaviors in me and support me in so many ways. Without them I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today. A few organizations that I volunteer with that really show me what life is all about and “make my heart happy” (as my wife says) including Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Special Olympics.
