We had the good fortune of connecting with FREED and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi FREED, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”-This quote always gives me pause. It’s a reminder for me to check myself. To check my thoughts and my frequency. I have this quote hanging up on multiple mirrors throughout my home. For me, it’s a reminder to reset, and think on good things. I start my day by writing out at least 5 things I’m grateful for. I challenge myself to pen my victories, especially the small ones that build momentum, throughout the day in an effort to keep my heart in a good place. I feel that coming from a place of gratitude allows me to stay in a unique pocket of humility and grace.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Freed-I’m a digital and traditional illustrator and I specialize in character designs. The foundation of my art is rooted in sparking nostalgia, so when you see one of my illustrations, it’s designed to make you smile-capture your heart! I spent the better part of last year going back and taking art classes to strengthen my skills, which I’m incredibly excited about. I’ve learned that there is always room for improvement! Consistency in who I am as a person has allowed me to get to where I’m at currently, along with the vibe that there is always room for growth. Challenging myself to outperform my past self is a best practice that’s pulled me through many tough times. It’s also allowed me to stay humble during times of victory. I’ve found that by constantly seeking reinvention, ways to improve myself and the people around me, it’s truly allowed me to stay fresh and bring a sincere vibe to the people I work with. Just staying true to who I am. Working to be a beacon of light to all I speak and interact with, that’s a promise I make to myself and strive to share with others. That spark, that ignition, that juice that gets you going. I seek to be that in every way possible, through whatever gifts I’ve been afforded to share with the world: art, music, speaking. I hope to inspire others with my actions.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It’s been a while since I’ve gone out-I’m such a homebody and love the gym. If there’s one place I dig a lot, from a health food perspective, it’s Mad Greens out in North Scottsdale. I also enjoy to catch the Phoenix Suns and am excited to catch a game in their renovated stadium. Outside of that I’m at the park with my puppy catching some sun before it gets too hot out!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shout out to my wife, who has helped to provide a foundation of love, support, and enthusiasm that will power through many generations in our family.
