We had the good fortune of connecting with Fresh C and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fresh C, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting your own business being an independent artist means more than bearing the burden of building your career from the ground up. Further developing a personal blueprint for success and investing in an aspirational vision, making the decision to dedicate all of my energy into achieving a dream demands a willingness to challenge tradition and establish new rules that can be adopted by those looking to follow in my footsteps. Understanding the pursuit of independence through this lens, the metrics for determining a win shift from how closely my career aligns with the current roster of superstars standing on top of the game. Instead, being victorious is measured by being able to introduce disruptive trends, smarter business models, and a formula for climbing the ranks that isn’t reliant upon dated prerequisites. Starting your own business not only allows you to control your destiny, but also lays the foundation for cementing both a lucrative and long-standing legacy. Starting off his career recording in a less than notable area full of broken dreams and failed attempts at greatness without substantial relationships or a team of role players to help carry the load, Fresh C began a 20-year journey to achieve his goal of becoming one of rap’s most prolific forces. Learning every element of the process — from writing and producing, to mixing and mastering, booking tours, getting radio play, graphic design, podcasting and coaching, mentoring a long list of lesser fortunate or unknown musicians Fresh has shared his professional DNA to that helped many others succeed and asks for nothing in return — the young visionary spent years perfecting his craft before stepping into the spotlight. Being self-made means doing things your own way, and doing it without any handouts. You can’t say that you’re self-made if someone else put you on. Relating to my experience, self-made means you put yourself on, creating a business model, and that’s something I’ve prided myself on throughout my career. Starting from nothing, with only my computer and the internet, I put myself on. I invested in myself, put in the work, spent years perfecting my craft, and got all of these fans on my own. With no help. -Fresh

Fresh C may register as a familiar face in the eyes of the music world today, his music tells a much more resilient story.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In all honesty, there isn’t a place like that where I currently reside. I created my own, which is why we are here in the first place. Being I literally live in the Recording Studio I built, More than likely the “friend” would actually be a business partner of some sort, Location would be the studio or my lounge to sign contracts.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to me for believing in myself and letting NOTHING deter me from succeeding.
