We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriella Alvarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriella, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and partially raised in Deming, New Mexico and then moved to Phoenix in elementary school. I was raised by a single mom and spent a lot of my childhood around family. I was raised by a family who taught me what hard work means. Coming from a family of immigrants I learned the importance of working hard for your goals and what it takes to be “self made.” Excuses will keep you at square one but sacrifices will take you far beyond what you thought was attainable.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I created Luxesicle in November of 2020. I started making hot cocoa bombs that were a huge phenomenon around that Christmas time. I have always loved baking and starting something small turned into me getting back into making different treats and desserts and turning them into gift sets. What sets me apart is I was inspired to turn a traditional package of just cupcakes or cookies and turn it into a variety of treats that look and taste good. This has been such a huge learning process for me. I do things alone so learning how to limit myself and learn more of the marketing and business end of things has been a journey in just my first year. I am mostly excited about my goals and where I plan to take my business within the next 5 years.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Metro Phoenix has so much fun to offer. I would spend one day kayaking at salt river, it has the best views and atmosphere. I love kayaking there for the sense of peace I feel and closeness with nature yet its not too far from the city. I would go to dinner at Maple & Ash in Scottsdale. It is a restaurant that you don’t find anywhere and has some of the best tasting steak I have had with an incredible experience attached. Spending a day/evening in tempe to visit the lake and restaurants would be a must. I would then spend a day or two in Sedona where there are so many hiking trails that offer an amazing view of the famous red rocks and some incredible art shows and art centers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The women in my life from aunts, grandmothers, and my own mom have all played a large role in shaping me into the woman that I am today. From learning how to cook and seeing the different roles they all played in their immediate families it gave me a sense of self and formed my desire of what type of woman I aspire to be. My mother is a driven person and someone who works extremely hard. She overcame the struggles of being a single mom and worked her way into an executive position while raising my brother and I and in watching her, I became motivated to work hard and relentlessly for the things that I want out of life.
