We had the good fortune of connecting with Georgie Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Georgie, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The one habit that has helped me succeed more than any other is discipline.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am very excited about the next generation of horsemen that are developing under our guidance at Dapple Gray Farm. We have a great group of kids that are hard working and passionate about horses. In a time where technology is taking over, it is refreshing to see kids outside enjoying nature and animals. I have always had a passion for horses and knew from a very young age that I wanted to work with them professionally. I’m very fortunate to have parents that have always supported and encouraged me to go after my goals. Making a living in the horse industry is not as glamorous as most people think. There are lots of up and downs, highs and lows, joys and tragedies. There are been many times when I question why I do it, consider getting a “normal” job. It’s in moments like these that the horses always seem to touch my heart. They remind me of simplicity and gratefulness. To do the right thing even when it is not the easy thing and above all else, always put the horse first. Horses teach you so much, very little of it actually has to do with horses. At Dapple Gray Farm our goals is to pass on our love of horses into the next generation and let the horses do the rest.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
The Grand Canyon is a must. The Prescott Rodeo over 4th of July. Tonto Verde National Forest from the back of a horse with a pit stop at the Rio Verde. Cave Creek, AZ for Mexican food at El Encanto followed by a drink at The Buffalo Chip Saloon. Wickenburg, AZ for a walk around town.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents.
