We had the good fortune of connecting with Gil Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gil, why did you pursue a creative career?
The main reason for pursing a creative career was so I could work on my own terms and have satisfaction in something I created mainly for myself as a means of expression. If other people happen to like it or relate to it then that’s an added bonus.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hard work and perseverance is what got me where I am today, along with a few well earned opportunities from other musicians. Wasn’t easy. A lot of people will prevent you or hinder you in pursuing your art so you have to roll with it and find whatever avenue to succeed. Its also important to help others along the way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shoutout to Bradley Palermo of LA. He took me on my first tour as a solo artist and served as a mentor on what to do and not to do on the road as a working musician.
