Meet J.D. Guerrero: Physical Education Specialist & Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with J.D. Guerrero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi J.D., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process for starting my own business started as a way to give back and help young athletes get better at the sports they love by providing specific sports training. Combined with creating a brand and more importantly giving back to the families in the communities, so that we can make a bigger impact in character of others through sports and keeping families active.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Physical Education Teacher K-6th grade and high school football coach. I have been teaching and coaching for over 13yrs and still enjoy everything about it. I am most proud of the impact I have had on the students and athletes that I have had the privilege of working with throughout my career. I have worked hard to achieve awards and experiences for my school, students, and athletes that has helped me get to where I am today. It was not easy because there are so many PE teachers, Coaches that are out in the community that are great and to be able to get recognized by the state and nationally has been big for me to make a bigger impact with my brand & business as Only The Strong Fitness & Athletics. One lesson I have learned is that you can’t help everybody, but everybody that I do help can also help someone else in the future and that will have a huge impact overall. I am grateful to be able to make a difference in the lives of the youth as a Teacher and as owner of OTS. I want them to know that it is important to stay active/ healthy and if you are able to give back to the community and impact someone in a positive way then continue to do so because I will always do my best to make a difference using Teaching, Coaching, and Only The Strong as my platform.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If I had a friend or family member coning to visit I would have so many places that I could take them to! Here is an example of what we would do. We would definitely have an exciting time with all of the activities here in AZ. We would stop at TopGolf in Gilbert to have some food, drinks, and hit some golf balls. We would workout at EOS on Pecos/ Higley and get our post shake and meal next door at Proteinhouse. Would also have to stop by Whiskey Row in Gilbert for food, drinks, and a little dancing action. Take a hike at Camelback or Squaw Peak then head over to Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers in Scottsdale for the post hike meal and Clamatos La Cruda for some Mexican delights! Depending on the season would hit up a sports event Dbacks, Suns, or Coyotes game and pregame at Yardhouse or Zipps. So many fun places to see and food to eat in our area.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are some great family and friends that I wish I could recognize for all their support! Someone that I would love to shoutout is Andrea Holland! Awesome trainer, motivator, and mother. Purchases OTS apparel, shares her workouts and always has a positive outlook for us!
