We had the good fortune of connecting with Jace Stenersen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jace, what are you inspired by?
Having my own storefront where I sell photographs is a huge inspiration to go out and capture more photos – photos in which I’ll be displaying on my walls. There are few things more appealing than seeing a new photograph printed out and displayed in my gallery for all to see.

However, my inspiration comes from more than just the pleasure of printing out my own artwork. My family has been a huge inspiration and has significant influence on how I operate my business. My mother, Jennifer, who owns and operates two storefronts in downtown Long Beach, Washington, is an obvious go-to inspiration for me. In addition, I’ve been inspired by a friend, Candance, who has been showing me the ropes on how to use my camera in another way – portrait photography for people.

As I grow on my photography journey, I meet new people and find new ways to be inspired, and the ever-changing adventure itself is the foundation of my inspiration.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I sell printed photographs of nature photography in my art gallery located in the coastal town of Long Beach, Washington. My gallery offers prints in a variety of styles; metal, gicleé, canvas, and basically whatever else you can dream up. I think I’ve established my own style of photography by now, which will set any professional photographer apart from another. After over a decade of photographing birds and wildlife, I have decided to start photographing people as well, which I find SUPER exciting!

Years of experience and determination is how I got to where I am today. Running a business will always have its struggles. I’ve learned that being willing to make changes (whether minor or major) can make all the difference in survivability.

My number one priority is for each customer to be a satisfied customer – whether I’m taking their family portraits or selling them a print for their wall.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s a lot to see in this little town of Long Beach!

Day one would be spent walking downtown to get a feel for the town itself. We’d buy from the local shops, eat at hungry harbor, and grab ice cream at Scoopers.

Day two we would spend at the nearest beach approach to take in the ocean.

Day three and four would be spent hanging around the more hidden gems of Long Beach – like Deadman’s Cove.

I enjoy fishing, so you know we’re going surfperch fishing at Beard’s Hollow on day five.

On day six, we’d explore the many trails at Leadbetter Point State Park.

Day seven would be more relaxed, we’d probably be in the mood to grab another coffee and explore a simple birding trail.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shoutout to all who have inspired me. My friends, family, and every single one of my customers.
