We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackman Raps and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jackman, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I live my life in a sorta high risk / high reward kind of way. Trying to make it as an independent artist is hard. If you don’t take the risk needed then you won’t get anywhere. I’ve never been afraid of taking a risk and I think I can credit some of my success to that.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Im definitely a black sheep when it comes to the Flint music scene. But I think it’s a good thing that makes me unique. One of my goals as an artist is to make being smart a cool think. Sometimes it’s looked at as corny, I want to flip that narrative.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If we are talking about Flint, my home town, I know just the spot. First thing first. You HAVE to get a coney. I’m not taking a chilli dog, nah this is way different. A Flint style coney. You can get them at any Coney Island in the city. I recommend Star Lite or Angelos.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to the whole city of Flint, Michigan. Without that city, and the people in it, I would be nothing. Shout out to the 810, Vehicle City, Flint Michigan.
