We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Bohannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The #1 vital factor in my success and creating Skin Salvation is education. I’ve always had a passion for continued education and I don’t think I’ll ever get to a point in my career when I feel like I know everything. Medicine is a continuously changing field. If you stop learning, you stop growing and I always want to offer the best, most up to date, evidence based medical practice to my patients. Aesthetic treatments (like Botox and filler) may seem easy & spa-like from the outside but they’re advanced procedures that require a medical license (RN, NP, PA, DO, MD), certification, training, and experience. I am a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner with 13 years of medical experience and have been injecting for 8 years. I’m known for natural results and achieving ageless beauty through customized full facial rejuvenation. I’ve trained with the nation’s top injectors and continue to train as new opportunities arise. It’s important that you feel safe, comfortable, and fully informed regarding office treatments, as well as home skincare for long-lasting results. When you leave Skin Salvation, you will feel better educated about not only treatment options but overall skin health and how to prevent premature aging. No high pressure sales here; I’ve created a folder for each patient to go home with after their consultation with a comprehensive plan and timeline. I want you to feel empowered & knowledgeable just as I do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an Advance Practice Nurse Injector I am able boost people’s confidence with tiny needles. I get excited to see my patient’s results and satisfaction. I left a corporate job as a Family Practice NP where I was seeing 25-30 patients with multiple complex diagnoses per day. I liked family medicine, my patients, and my colleagues but I was burnt out after year 2. At that point I knew I wanted to pursue aesthetic dermatology, the fire was burning, but had no clue how to go about it. So I attended a certification course and began doing injectables on the weekends when I wasn’t working my regular job. My interest continued to grow but becoming a dermatology provider isn’t an easy task. I applied to offices around town but employers always wanted experience. I was getting impatient when my 5 years family practice anniversary rolled around; I was so tired of getting overbooked, hearing about patient volume, no incentive to learn new or implement procedures, etc. I knew the world of aesthetic dermatology was within reach and I couldn’t wait any longer, I needed to be more persistent & stop waiting for an opportunity to come to me. I expanded my job search and was soon offered a Medical Director and Injector position in the East Valley. It was far from my home and I was pregnant so it wasn’t perfect but it was a great learning opportunity and starting platform. From that experience I was able to gain insight as to how medspas operate and therefore focus on how I would like to build my medical aesthetics practice. I am a medical professional first and always. I have the background and experience to treat an emergency. You will get a comprehensive skin assessment & skincare recommendations within your budget.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Mexican food, especially chips & salsa, so I’d definitely recommend Manuel’s Mexican Restaurant and Valle Luna’s in North Phoenix or Blanco in Scottsdale. I’m vegetarian so Green in Tempe is one of my favorite restaurants ever! Maple & Ash is great for a date night. The Farm at South Mountain is perfect for brunch in fall/spring. A quick stay at L’Auberge Sedona for a dog-friendly, relaxing weekend by the creek. McCormick Railroad park for kids <12 younger.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My supportive family- I couldn’t be where I am today without them, especially my mom & husband. My mom truly is a saint; there isn’t anyone as selfless, forgiving, and loving as this woman. She has always been my #1 supporter. My husband is beyond incredible. As cheesy as it sounds, words cannot describe how much I appreciate this man! Besides being an all around cool guy, he encouraged me to leave my corporate job to follow my dreams, helps me out with the business, and is the best dad to our little girl. My dad, stepdad, and sister have provided encouragement and elbow grease along the way. I am beyond grateful to these people!
