We had the good fortune of connecting with Jan Griggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jan, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art has always been what I could do best. I took every art class I possibly could and followed the only path I knew

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Creating abstract art is all about intuition. It’s not about what your eyes see, but about what your mind sees and your heart feels. I have always been an artist but I have found abstract painting to be my passion. I’m kind of a late bloomer, but that’s OK. The last 10 years have been laser focused on creating my art. I have learned that you have to put yourself out there, over and over again and it’s never too late to start

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
All the art festivals in this area are incredible and full of interesting people. A day trip to Sedona, relaxing at one of the many spas in the area, North restaurant, and shopping in Kierland, pinnacle peak hike, happy hour outside at any of the incredible restaurants in Scottsdale. Old town for galleries, shopping, and nightlife

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Rick Griggs for encouraging me to go for it, and teacher and mentor Gwen Fox who opened the door to what has become my passion
