We had the good fortune of connecting with Janay Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janay, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued this career, too enhance women beauty and too have them feeling good about themselves! Its a struggle to go through sometimes when you go from high density, length and texture hair to low density, and that’s when I come in and be transparent with my clients. I educate my clients and also let them know, you are no less of a woman because you’re going through hair loss. So my goal is too uplift my clients and grow their hair!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me different from others is that I want women too love themselves even through the difficult time of their hair journey. Thats when your client needs you more, I know we’re not no magician but if you build an relationship with that client and listen too their needs and they will be consistent things will look up for them.

I’m proud of myself, because I walked out on faith and opened up my own business

Honestly how I got here was from trial and error from my past salon experiences. NO! It was not easy, but it’s worth it! To know that you can change an person life with a hairstyle is the best feelings ever! I overcame the challenges by keep going even when you have a busy week, slow week, consistency of weeks and months, or no clients you still push yourself

What I’ve learned along the way is always be open to learn and take honesty criticism

What do I want the world to know about my brand and story, is that I started in my mom’s kitchen (lol) , but I knew that God had more in store for me! My brand is to beautified and grow women hair!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Too be honest I’m kinda a homebody! Hahah!! We’ll hang with my family,

Main Event for the bowling,

Top Golf,

Sushi Station on 16st and Camelback,

The Capital Grille for a nice dinner,

Dat Vibe Brunch where it is live music and vendors on Sundays at the end of the month every month

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank God! I want to thank him for giving me this love, passion, and ministry! I always say he’s the driver I’m just the passenger. My children, but especially my daughter Zariah, she was with me through this all the good, bad, and the ugly! For her to see me in the direction I’m heading and from where we came is a blessing!! So many people played apart in my life and especially this journey I’ll be typing all day long with names, but just know I’m grateful for EVERYONE!! Thank you to my client Tomeko Smith that shouted me
