We had the good fortune of connecting with Jargon Dee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jargon, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Chicago, IL. In entertainment, the Chi is a place where you can really thrive if you have the right network. Coming up, I was heavily involved in music- every open mic or rap battle, I was there. Those were the fun years, where you could just grab the mic and light up a crowd. Being Asian, there was only a handful of us in the hip hop world and even fewer in my city. So naturally, the second I stepped in front of any crowd, I stuck out from the rest. I was skilled marksman with the punch lines. Once I mastered hooks and bridges, I became quite successful in the studio. One of my songs, was actually mistaken for Lil Wayne and somehow released on a leaked version of the Carter 4 mixtape. The song, “Talk 2 Me” ended up having about 50 million streams before my lawyers were able to do anything about it. Unfortunately, I was unable to capitalize on the fame that could have come with it, but Cash Money Records did write me the biggest check of my life at the time. I started my own concert series in the states and started understanding more of the business aspect of music. I was soon hired on as the official host of several other country-wide tours.

With my small amount of success at this time, I had people asking me to manage them- I guess they thought the quickest way to level up was to have me do for them, what I had already done for myself. Naturally, people respected my work, so I entered the Talent Management business with a bit of a head start. I got really good at scouting talent and aligning their fan bases with brands and events. Once social media became “the thing”- I managed one of the industry’s top independent agency’s for content creators.

Today I still do music. I’m currently working exclusively with Platinum recording artist, Dawin, who is by far one of the most talented singer/songwriters on the planet. I scaled back from managing a huge roster musicians and dancers, as I feel that part of my life has run its course. I still handle deals for my son, Rodeo and his musical partner, Issei- who are undeniably talented. They recently won a TikTok Spotlight competition in Japan that had over 4 million entries. Outside of music, Rodeo and I run a modeling agency, Rodayo Modeling. With my extensive musical background and social network along with his unique understanding of how to go viral on social media, we make the absolute perfect team.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am still a student to the game, but I have mastered a few of the classes. My story is simple, I’ve had really hard times, that have made me into the man I am today. I don’t live an easy life, but I don’t struggle. I positioned myself to stay away from those who reek of negativity. I keep a small circle of people around me that share a similar mindset of morals, discipline and respect. We are all out for success,

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the airport and fly to somewhere tropical. Though Chicago has nice summers, no one truly wants to be here. I guess if I had to brag about one thing our city has when its not horrible weather, is we have a nice skyline. Shopping is pretty decent and restaurant options are rather endless. We also have less traffic than LA and the city is pretty manageable getting place to place. I guess it’s not bad here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My son Rodeo. Literally my driving force. We push each other, celebrating the small victories along the way but never losing focus of the end goal.
